RE: How much fun does Shoot`em Up look?

I cannot beleive people are actually watching this and turning it off moaning about how bad it is.
Look at the title of the film "Shoot Em Up" its not exactly trying to be Scarface. It`s trying to be a completely ridiculously OTT action film. And thats what it is.
And quite frankly i haven`t enjoyed a film so much in my life. The 1st film in years and years i`d have given 10/10 (for enjoyment).
I also think its the funniest film of the year (partly intentional, partly because its so stupid).
Oh and i saw it twice at the cinema, and i cant wait for it to come out on DVD.

I understand why people won`t like this. But come on, its called Shoot Em Up.

Sin City - REcut & extended R2

http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=285;5;-1;-1&sku=722523

I hadn`t read anything about this coming out, but i saw it in HMV yesterday, and it appears to be a HMV exclusive.

Does anyone know if this is this the version thats been available in America & Australia (i think), for ages?

RE: Saw IV

I loved Saw (re-watched the 1st one earlier and its still brilliant). And they get slightly worse as they go:
Saw - 9/10
Saw II - 8/10
Saw III - 7/10
Saw IV - 6/10
I think the main problem with this one was it was un-realistic. Before i get some stupid reply, think about it. In there way none of the 1st three, were unrealistic in terms of what happened to people. In this one, they had 2 really stupid traps/deaths, that just wouldn`t happen.
The ending was amazing, but the main part of the film was seriosuly lacking a certain something, tension, descent plot, whatever it is.
This one did however have the 1st time in a film ever were i closed my eyes.
SPOILER:
When Donnie Whalberg`s head gets (iced) blocked in, i really liked his character and it i didn`t want to watch him die.

RE: Ratatouille - very poor

The best part of this film by far was the short film at the beginning "lifted" i think it was called. I laughed more in that 5 mins, than i did all the way through Ratatouille.
But to be honest i new i`d not like it, i haven`t liked a Pixar/disney film for ages. But i was dragged along by me girl, and she loved it & couldn`t believe how much i didn`t.

RE: Alien Vs Predator: Requiem Trailer

As far as dumb-popcorn-PG-13-rip-offs-of-great-horror-franchises go, i really liked AVP. But that trailer don`t half suck! Am sure it will be good/entertaining, and i really like Reiko Ayelsworth (sorry if thats spelt wrong), aka Michelle from 24.
The trailer is clearly going "look look its not a PG-13 any more, we are making a really gory film.... Honest!"

RE: Bourne Ultimatum First Impressions

I don`t mind Tony Scott`s style of shakey cam, in fact i really like it. Also in Private Ryan it obviously works. I dont even remember it in Armageddon.
I think i hated it so much in this was because it was not only far to shakey, but it was so close up (a typical PG13 problem) as well as a being shakey, i just couldn`t see what was going on.
I get the dark and gritty thing, but they dont need it in Casino Royale (bad example, but i cant think of anything else off the top of my head) or other allegedly "dark" films.

RE: Bourne Ultimatum First Impressions

I await backlash for this. But i really dont like the Bourne films. Matt Damon is the most unconvincing action star in a film ever. And the camera work made the fight scenes unwatchable. I can only assume that fight scene were there was only "thwacks" was good as all i could see was a camera man with Parkinsons.
If i recall correctly that wasn`t a problem with Identity (that was just boring i thought). Which leads me to beleive it must be the way Greengrass likes it.
Its a shame as i do think there is a really good film here waiting to come out.
Even though he made the excellent United 93!

RE: Die Hard 4.0 (short review)

I still wasn`t sure if i heard the yippe kay a mother f..... line fully or not. Maybe i jus wanted to hear it. It was seriosuly annoying they made this PG-13, but at least it wasn`t as bad as making AVP a PG13.

RE: Does anyone watch any of the direct to dvd sequels that keep getting released?

I liked the Dusk Till Dawn sequels (mainly because i saw 2 before 1).
And quite enjoyed Cruel Intentions 2, 3 was cack tho.
I rented Hollow Man 2, but never got to see it. My parents said it was crap tho.

RE: Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (I saw it digitally projected)

I was dissapointed by At Worlds End. And i know exactly why. IT WASNT FUNNY ENOUGH.
I loved Curse of the black pearl & (against alot of people) i really liked Dead Mans Chest (1st time round). But At worlds end was the worst of the 3 easily. The finale battle was nothing short of amazing. But it just wasn`t funny enough. Not enough Jack & to many "obvious" jokes. The Monkey was the 2nd best actor in there. The bit with him shivering was brilliant. I`ve never heard a combined "awwww" & laughter at the same time in a cinema like that before.

Apparently there is a bit after the credits (again). Can someone tell me what it is as i didn`t stay till the end (this time).

RE: Just seen 28 weeks later.. and i`m knackered!... contains light spoilers

I didn`t like the original, i really couldn`t see why eerybody liked it do much. But i had hopes for this one as it has one of my fav actors (Robert Carlyle) & a different director.

It worked!! This is the best film i have seen in ages. And easily the most tense film. (I think only) The 2nd film ever for me to want to shout at the screen "leg it!!"

Absolutely brilliant, i could pick hole`s, i mean there was things wrong with it. But it was just so in your face & intense. Best horror film in years.

RE: Live Free Die Hard Anticipation Thread.

Mother****** is classed as either course or very strong, so there`s no way that would be in a PG-13. I dunno about in a 12. They got away with 3 F`s in Terminator 3 (i still don`t know how that was a 12, but still) so you never know, the BBFC is so strange.

With regards to what Bruce said, i read on Channel 4`s teletext that he really didn`t like it. I can`t remember the exact quote, but he didn`t seem happy.

RE: Live Free Die Hard Anticipation Thread.

Die Hard being a PG-13 is the most annoying news since they tried to make AVP a PG-13.
I did think it looked a bit daft from the trailer, but i still wanted to see it. But if it hast got "that line", it just ain`t going to be the same.
Maybe he dies and its Yipee Kiya Mother *bang* he gets shot or something.

RE: Saw IV/ V News

I loved all 3 Saws (3rd wasn`t as good, but still liked it). But i am worried how there going to make IV onwards, especially with Tobin Bell. But as long as they don`t totally mess up, i`ll keep watching.

RE: ROCKY 6 - OPINIONS (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Thought the film was very good. It is quite slow at the beginning, but it was never really boring. It all gets going once you here "that music" & then on it was very good!! I don`t get why its a 12, when the rest were all PG`s.....

RE: Apocalypto...

I thought that Apocalypto was no more than good. It was very dull in the middle. And after all is said and done, its basically just a (very) tarted up Seagal chase movie. Also it wasn`t really that violent i didn`t think. Not violent enough to cause a storm anyway.

The bit with the (i beleive it was a) Jaguar was class!

RE: Children of Men

This was definately my 2nd best film of the year. Absolutely brilliant (except for the annoyingly abrupt ending). I loved the private ryan style action/war sequences, very tense & felt very real. Oh and Michael Caine was brilliant.

The OC Season 2 - Australian version

http://www13.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=262128

Apart from the horrible rating logo thingy on the front. Is there any reason i shouldn`t get this?? I mean is it any different to the R2 set?

RE: Casino Royale Anticipation Thread

I get you need to see his eyes when there playing cards (i dont think its for a third of the film), but it seemed like every other shot they had to show you Craigs eyes. Eva Green had lovely blue eyes too, but they didn`t show them the way they did with Craig.

RE: Casino Royale Anticipation Thread

I have a big review i might post later. But overall.

Starts promising, very good action at the begining (although the free-running was done better in Distrcit 13). But after the card game it just went very downhill. The love story bit was very boring & it just was a let down towards the end.

Craig was better than i thought, but i still would`ve preffered someone else. He`s a good actor, but he`s not Bond (yet). And i wouldnt call ot "brutal" like all the many reviews i`v read. Its PG13 (12A) brutal, which means nothing. Also, i found the torture bit to be really badly done, not effective at all. Maybe it was the cuts that were forced on it (in England, i dont know in america).

Overall i`d give it a very low 7/10

PS, did the constant eye shots of Craig bother anyone else?? I GET IT HE HAS BLUE EYES!!

RE: Red Dwarf: The Movie

They really need to do something else, if not a move just make a new series! But please no cliff hanger ending if they do.
I found Series 7 & 8 often just as funny as the rest of the series`. 8 has 2 of my fav bits. "Have a fantastic period" & the "you havent heard the news" bits are great.

RE: Saw 3 -SPOILERS WITHIN

I think the twists in this were as good as in Saw 2, but were easier to guess because the film was know where near as engaging. But when im watching a film i really like, i don`t sit there trying to guess whats going to happen. I just sit and enjoy.

I can`t remember if i mentioned this, but did anyone else`s cinema have the lights not as off as they usually do?? They only dimmed half way. I don`t think that helped in the mood/atmosphere.

SPOILER:
The best wincing bits was the guy being literally twisted. Donnie smashing his foot in was just plain "ouch"!

RE: Saw 3 -SPOILERS WITHIN

I forgot to mention this. But when i saw Saw III, they didn`t turn the lights fully off like they usually do. Did anyone else have this??

RE: Saw 3 -SPOILERS WITHIN

Which twist are you referring to? There are a couple.

SPOILER:
The twist i was reffering to was when the guy literally gets twisted. Even his head! Proper ouch!

RE: Saw 3 -SPOILERS WITHIN

My review:

Ok i`m a bit annoyed, i just wrote this really good, long review for this & i just deleted the whole blumin` thing by accident!! So this review isn`t going to be too long, i can`t be bothered now.

IMO 1st 2 Saw movies were (1 more than 2) brilliant. Both had excellent twists & contain some of the (and THE) most horrific scenes in cinema ever.

This 3rd installment is a bit of a letdown. It starts very promisingly with a very hard to watch scene with Donnie Wahlberg trying to break free from his shackles. For a good few minutes it was teeth jarring. But after that it`s just not gripping like the 1st or 2nd film. It hasn`t got that, what the French call "I dont know what". There is an extremely (ahem) killer "twist" after quite a while. And caused me to involentarily blink it was really gross.

Jigsaw is brilliantly acted by Tobin Bell. He even make`s you feel some sympathy for him (well till the very end). All the main characters are well acted. & the "story" is well written, it`s just not on a par with the 1st 2.

Oh yes, you may have heard about people apparently fainting & having to be carried out of screenings of this. I`m sorry, but those people are either idiots (for seeing it in the 1st place) or wooses. Its called SAW for god sake, this ent a bloody PG13 horror. This is your fall on gruesome-fest. No wimps see this (although my mum loves all 3 Saws, read into that what you will).

7/10

RE: The Departed

I know its a Scotsece film & of course i expected it to be violent. But after seeing Gangs of New York, which i frequently read was "to violent", i was like, was it?? What my point was i have never found a film to brutal/violent. But this was slightly uncomfortably to violent. Maybe its because it was at the cinema not on DVD.

Having Tony Scott & Jerry Bruckheimer making a film together, i`m sure i will love this. I`m also sure lots of people wont.
