Broadband

Hi, can some body give me advice on which povider to use, at the moment
I`m with AOL on 56k Dial up, but i do not think i want to carry on with AOL when i decide to go on Broadband. my next door nieghbour is useing Plusnet, and he seem`s to be quite happy with there service, but there are a lot of providers out there,
So who is the BEST ?

what doe`s this message mean

Please could some one explain this message i keep on getting, when burning
DVD Files, I`m using Nero 6, and DVD Shrink 3. 2, (could not perform Disc-at-once).
then ejects the disc, this problem only seem`s to occur when Dvd Disc R+, i have tryed
TDK and Benq disc, if i try DVD RW and it seem to write these okay, Nero loads the DVD`s
Files okay, the writer is VOM-12E 48X, which is suppose to write in DVD+R DVD-R and -RW +RW, another message that come`s occasionaly (POWER CALIBRATION ERROR).
thank you for any help

RE: BURN promblem

Choagy,You will be please to know that i am getting there, by useing DVD Shrink,in favour of useing DVD Decrypter, i`m finding that Nero seems to except the files from the DVD Shrinker more readlly, and have burn 2 dvd`s okay, will not shout too early, keep my finger`s cross. Yes this site is a very good one, i have been with for quite a while,
use it mainly for stand alone DVD`s, but it cover`s a lot of topic`s, and i cannot praise it anoth and hope it remain`s with us for many years to come.

RE: BURN promblem

Thx`s again Choagy, you have been a real help, i owe you 1, it`s nice to know that there
are people out there to help other`s and to explain to people who are not Bill Gates,
thank you.

RE: BURN promblem

Thx Choagy, for all your information, as you can see I`m new to this part of computering
before i only had cd-r writer with Nero 5 which to me seem alot easyer to use,but hopefully i will get there, the trouble is it did not seem so bad if you spoiled a cd-r disc,
but dvds disc are still a bit pricey, and i can tell you i have spoil a few now,
but that`s my problem, thx again, any more information will be most welcome especially
about Nero 6

RE: BURN promblem

should i be able to copy DVD to DVD, and i`m not talking about DVDs that are protected
by Macrovision, i seem to have trouble with finalising a disc it write`s the disc but then as faults when finalising, and will not play on a DVD machine

BURN promblem

Hi I`m really suffering, i`m useing windows XP, nero 6, but i am having real promblems when it comes to burning DVDs, my writer VOM-12E48X, i have also IDE DVD ROM 16X,
i have also tryed the DVD Decrypter, what i cannot understand it will burn a DVD disc okay one time, then useing the same method it doe`s not want to know, I`m using Benq,
DVD+R Discs, I have got a Philips DVDR 80 and these Discs seem to be okay on that machine, my writer in the computer is surpose to burn DVD +R ,DVD- R ,DVD+ RW, ,DVD- RW
so any ideas will be welcome

RE: anyone had there topuptv card yet ?

Blame the BBC for this one, they thought they were being clever, but instead they handed
Sky just what they were after, another way of getting money of the public, you could go for freeview receiver, but alot of people have not got a good enough signal to receive
digital, and have no hope of cable because they live in remote areas.
so Sky will put pressure on, to force them to pay up for a subscription.
Very Happy Ruppert Murdoch.

RE: Sky Question??

Sky is the modern Dick Turpin, so good for you all,let Sky get there money of other fools
(day light robbery)

RE: philips dvdr80 - firmware upgrade and multi-region hack

Hi i have had no problem, I did my hack with the oneforall remote and downloaded
the software from www.p4c.philps.com, and burn onto disc, the only problem i have
(which is nothing to do with the software) is that i cannot play DVDs from regent 1 with
RCE,does not want to no :(

RE: Sky and my TV not compatable

Sky digital should be viewed through a scart lead :/

RE: Old Sky Digibox - what to do with it ???

yes i agree with you Jimbo, what alot of people do not realise that there is a lot of satellites up there Hotbird at 13%,and the old Astra at 19% east and many more.
which a lot are free to view, the World does not stop at SKY

RE: Old Sky Digibox - what to do with it ???

hi ,this argument is getting a little heated, and remember the question was what to do with the old digital receiver, and i was not really getting at you Jimbo :
But i do detest SKY. I start with BSB, (remember those days) to try and keep away from SKY, but as we all know what became of that.
and they have become a power onto them selvies.which is a bad day for us viewers.

RE: MICO Espejo R311. DVD Recorder. I have one. First thoughts.

just a thought as the disc been Finalised, ihave not got a Mico DVDR, but use a
PhilipsDVDR 80, and have to finalise the disc,or play it on another DVD player

RE: Old Sky Digibox - what to do with it ???

Jimbo : op, do you work for SKY, do you not think they get enough, out off there
custumers? :/

RE: Old Sky Digibox - what to do with it ???

yes it can be done, the easy way if you could get hold of another dish with a new LNB
and cable it could be done with your set up by useing a splitter connection, but may cause problems, your best bet would be to phone or E-Mail. a Satellite company, some
body like Trac satellite, who would give you advice. ( NOT SKY)they be a waste of time.

RE: SKY canceling? what should i do

Lets get this all cleared up. If you received your new viewing card from sky, last summer,
then you will be able to watch BBC 1, 2, 3,&4, also ITV, Channel 4,and Channel 5, you will not received ITV 2. WE were all hopeing that ITV and Channel 4.&5 would break away from Skys package, like the BBC did last year, and this is were the trouble started
people who did not subscribe to sky, did not get the new card and lost, ITV Channel 4&5. Now the problem could be if SKY decide to renew the cards again, and those of us
who do not subscribe to SKY could loose ITV ect ect, but by then we hope the governing
body will have sorted this mess out, because some of the blame lies at the goverments
door for turning a blind eye, and letting Sky get away with it :(

RE: SKY canceling? what should i do

Why did you take your sky card out for? i canciled my subscription nearly 12 months now but still get ITV, Channel 4,& 5 and as you say all the other free channels, but not ITV 2
When Sky decided to change there cards again, that could be a problem.
but by then may be the broadcasting body will get there act together, why should Sky
be allowed to act like big brother, and putting an iron fist on every body.
I hope more people will do what you have done and my self as done CANCIL

RE: can some one help

HI this is what i did.
went to www.p4c.philips.com. and down loaded the file for the Philips DVDR 80.
then with a Nero burner rom, and setting it for Data. (CD.ROM iso Level2, Mode2 /XA.
no multisession.ISO 9660 and burn at the lowest which in my case is 4X
Disc-At-Once), but what i do not if it needs all the files that have downloaded,
after i have burn to disc, and put it in the computer DVD-rom drive, the disc shows the contents
on the disc, but when i put in the Philips DVDR 80 Disc Error comes up.

PhilipsDVDR 80

if any one wants the code for oneforall remote control, for the PhilipsDVDR 80.
it is now 0646 to make the remote control work with your philipsDVDR 80,or in my
case,my oneforall only accepts 3 digits 646.
then if you wish to hack your Philips DVDR 80.
with the players remote press the system button
now go down to the remote sign,
change this to DVD play,
now come out of system,
using the oneforall for the rest of commands,
press magic button once,
press 085,
you will see a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ going across the front panel
press 121212005255 the last few numbers you wont see.
press play, sign will come up no disc,
press standby,
and wait 5 seconds or so
switch back on and you should then be regent free.
and you can then put your remote control back to DVD Record
