What do you mean by it does not want to know - what error message do you get ?
Just because the discs work in your DVDR 80 it does not mean they are not the problem as different drives can be fussy about reading a certain discs while another will read it fine.
Try another brand of disc ( get a decent brand ) and if that still fails then have a look at the drive manufacturers website and see if there is a firmware update that may fix any problems.

Simple answer, NO. Unlike audio CD`s DVD movies cannot simply be copied by placing the source in one drive and the blank in the destination drive and clicking on "Copy Whole Disc" etc.
DVD`s are written in such a way that the files should be ripped to a H/D then written to the destination disc. They have to be ripped and written in a very specific way which "Should" allow the copy to play in another DVD player.
Rather than trying to copy from one directly to another do the following.
Go to http://www.dvdshrick.org and download the latest stable version, not beta, of DVD Shrink.
Then after installing use Shrink and select Backup to backup the DVD . Place the source DVD in your DVD drive and the destination (Blank DVD/R) in the DVD/RW drive
Shrink will automatically set the reduction/compression settings to a level that will enable you to fit the whole source disc on to one blank 4.7 Gig DVD/R.
Shrink will utilise Nero and as such after you select Backup you can leave them to do their stuff. That should be that and any disc backed up in such a manner should play in any DVD player that can play DVD/R`s.

PS If I can remember anything I have forgotten to mention, a bit daft sounding I know :) , I will post a follow up.

Thx Choagy, for all your information, as you can see I`m new to this part of computering
before i only had cd-r writer with Nero 5 which to me seem alot easyer to use,but hopefully i will get there, the trouble is it did not seem so bad if you spoiled a cd-r disc,
but dvds disc are still a bit pricey, and i can tell you i have spoil a few now,
but that`s my problem, thx again, any more information will be most welcome especially
about Nero 6

missouri :)

Just a quick post before I watch the Villa - Arsenal game.

I would recommend you get a couple of blank DVD/RW`s and phanny about with them until you perfect the art of backing up your DVD`s.
Not because it makes it any easier but simply down to the fact that although DVD/R media is relatively cheap it is still annoying when you waste a disc.
That way if you goose the backing up you can still format the disc and use it again.

Regarding Nero 6 all I can say is that I have never had a problem with it when backing up any of my DVD`s. I know others will in all probability recommend other software but when I have used it with Shrink I have never had a problem.

Easy guide to using Shrink.

Place original in drive and blank media in writer.
Run DVD Shrink.
Select Open Disc, point it to the original disc.
Allow Shrink to analyze disc and it will reduce the original file sizes to a size that fits on one DVDR.
Select Backup and an options window opens.
Point it to the writer ie Pioneer 105 etc
Select a folder for the temporary files to be written to, ie c:\Shrink Backups.
Select Burn Settings and you will have the option of naming the disc, ie, Wedding Video etc.
Click on OK

That is that and the programmes will do their thing and you will end up with a very good backup of your chosen DVD.

After you become a bit more confident/proficient you will be able to remove extra audio files such as directors commentary and foreign language soundtracks. This in turn allows you to alter the compression of the main video which again in turn can make a big difference to the finished article.

BTW visit http://www.videohelp.com and you will find an abundance of information on backing up DVD`s.

Choagy,You will be please to know that i am getting there, by useing DVD Shrink,in favour of useing DVD Decrypter, i`m finding that Nero seems to except the files from the DVD Shrinker more readlly, and have burn 2 dvd`s okay, will not shout too early, keep my finger`s cross. Yes this site is a very good one, i have been with for quite a while,
use it mainly for stand alone DVD`s, but it cover`s a lot of topic`s, and i cannot praise it anoth and hope it remain`s with us for many years to come.
