RE: mission centre speakers

It is always best to keep to speakers of the same make as they will be more sonicaly matched, however are the 700`s screened. If not you will not be able to put them anywhere near your telly as the magnets in them will distort the picture and may even damage the tube if left too close too long. The screening is part of the reason that a centre speaker on its own can cost as much as a pair of speakers.

RE: Region 4 discs + EzyDVD-desperation q?

As long as your player IS multi region then you can play Aussie discs no problem. The PAL they use is the same as ours, Infact some discs are sold region2 and region4 enabled ie will play on a region4 only or region2 only player, hence the PAL format must be the same. I buy discs from EZYDVD and would recommend them to any one, you forget they are the other side of the world ! If you still are not convinced, just buy 1 disc from them and try it, thats what I did.
As I say your player MUST be multi region, the PAL will work on y`telly no probs.

RE: will dvd REALLY completely replace vhs???

Yes it will.

Analogue TV transmission has maybe seven years life left. I beleive that when recordable DVD comes out it will start slow and be expensive but as more and more equipment goes over to digital the good old tape will be finished. I have a CD writter on my PC and CD player in my car. Blank CD`s are cheaper than cassettes. I can`t remember when I last listened to a cassette. The same WILL happen to VHS.

TAPE IS DEAD LONG LIVE SHINY ROUND THINGS

RE: Photo Albums on VCD, Questions

Thanks Gary,
I guess I will wait for Nero 5.5 and hope the update is out soon. I thought Winoncd provided background music as this is the feature I was looking for. It can add to the pleasure of the album. wrt the size of the picture I have since read the help files on Nero and have found that it adjusts the size of the picture for VCD to (VCD, normal 352x288) and (VCD, high 704x576) hence I guess as long as my pictures are bigger than this there will be no loss of quality. Thanks for the advice

RE: Zenith DVC2200

I beleive the Zenith 2200 is a clone of the LG3200. I can see from specs of the Zenith 2250 that it uses the same remote as the LG3350. Hence as the LG3350/Aiwa Hack works on later LG3200`s I would say try this hack. You can find it within the Hack pages on this site under Aiwa.
Try it and let us Know.

Photo Albums on VCD, Questions

Ok, Now that the nice ItTroll has hacked the LG3350 and I now have VCD I have been playing around creating Photo Albums, and before I get busy putting all my photo`s onto disk I have a few questions.

1. For display on my PC I size the photo`s to 800*600 pixels. What Is the best size for display on a TV ?

2. I have used Nero but I have read that Winoncd 3.8 enables an audio track with the album and sets upto 8 albums within the album. Any one used this. Is it better than Nero ?

3. Any one know where to get Winoncd from and what sort of price ?

Thanks

Jimbo said > "And I know I said I was outta this thread, but I couldn`t have Croc thinking I was taking a shot at him with no reason :o)"

Thanks Jimbo, And reading your last couple of messages, nice to see the "positive" Jimbo bouncing back. I think there still is a market for modified players, Techtronics prove that, and there are a lot of people who will pay the extra for the peice of mind. When you order from Dabs you spend the next few days (or weeks at this time) wondering if it will hack or wont it, as they specify the sale of a region 2 machine only. I know I did when I heared that it may be (and was) new firmware. Do you think you can undercut Techtronics £230 Multi region price. If you can and you do have the after sales support, and Possibly get Macrovision defeated I recon your still in there. I know if my machine goes faulty then I would have to change the codes back before returning it, and thats if I can. Thats the chance some people dont like to take. Piece of mind thats what you would be selling at your price, and can you put a price on that ? Maybe if you threw in a free DVD as well. lol ;-)

RE: Help EZYDVD.COM.AU

I ordered 2 DVD`s total charge with postage £27. no problems with customs

RE: Cheap Projectors

@ £500 you would have to be looking at the second hand market. Cheap projectors are like cheap TV`s, the quality of the pic is not so good. If you dont have enough money to buy a decent projector then you are better off getting a decent TV.

RE: IT Troll delivers: VCD playback on the LG DVD-3350E

Jimbo says > "Yeah, I know what EVERY hex pair bar 2 do Croc, but with this thread, gimme one good reason to share it!"

Jimbo also says > "One of them (and I don`t know which, so don`t ask!) disables the code from being entered, and therefore stops the unit from displaying anything, EVEN the logo screen dies!"

So which is it to be Jimbo, either you know them all or you have misplaced the information.

Jimbo says > " I wonder how many other businesses would offer FREE upgrades to those who helped them with nothing more than information?
And I don`t just mean Troll, but it was offered in more than one of my mails."

Well As I have said before its information that makes these forums work. If the dig re free upgrades was made at me Jimbo, I have read your e-mail (all 24 words) and even reading between the lines I can see nothing of the sort. As far as I could see the changes you planned to make would be on machines that you supplied only, as your agent would not work on anything he did not know the history of. I am sure If we look back through the threads this is the case. anyway thats history now, the cats out of the bag as they say. I guess the way you feel right now is the way the likes of Techtronics felt when you told the world how to make the machine multi region.

I for one am please with my LG as a DVD player, thanks to Jimbo its multi region and thanks to ItTroll it plays VCD. :-)

PS I think the LG should be sold with a warning. Do not allow the remote control to fall into the hands of under 5`s or even worse sit on it as a combination of key presses may destroy your player !!!! ;-)

RE: IT Troll delivers: VCD playback on the LG DVD-3350E

In defence of Jimbo, I do beleive his hack was somthing that could not be shared as it required flash programming, or was this to throw ItTroll of the scent. I dont know, but he has always been fair in the past. However I do beleive that he has shared the most important information of all and that is DO NOT start playing with the code as some of them will relate to the display etc and I beleive this to be true so I`m not going to try, and I thank you again Jimbo for the warning. It would be so tempting to start at 00 through to FF for each one though. Maybe in a few years when the machine is past its best.

I have had experience through my line of work of changing the wrong binary bit and wham bam thank you mam, what the F was that. So take it from me these things can happen.

I guess the message here is follow the instructions exactly and dont do it if you dont ever intend to play VCD or photo albums. Saying that I have done it and VCD and Photo albums work fine.

Trying to sit on the fence

RE: What the Hex it all about Jimbo and ItTroll

Jimbo >
"OK, slight memory slip from m there, but just to CONFIRM whats being said, your mail said "The SIXTH hex pair", and I said "no, not the variable you`re looking at"
It was NOT the 6th hex pair, it`s the FOURTH!"

Jimbo you are right it is the fourth Hex pair that you edit. However I can also see this from ItTrolls point, If you look at the version display screen and take MISCEL 11 A0 into account then it becomes the sixth pair. I think there may be just a misunderstanding here.

The way this thread is going I think someone has put a "Hex" on it !!!!!

Paul J,
Do the firmware version display check Hex pair FOUR will have changed from FD to FE. If this is the case It it has worked ;-)
Info on doing this check can be found on both Jimbo`s and ItTrolls websites, links for which you will find within these threads.

RE: IT Troll delivers: (Did you try DE)

Thanks for this info ItTroll, but one more question. Do you know if on the 3351P you can turn PBC off and on like on the Aiwa from the set up menu ? Im not trying to be a pain honest, just curious or maybe I do want the moon on a stick ;-)

PS..... FF = ???? try it, not me, I`m no Braveheart, :o)
No to be a Braveheart you have to be a Scott :oP

RE: MP3 CD-R Burning

I have found the only way to keep the order is to use number first WITH leading 0 ie 01 track 1 , 02 track 2 etc. if you dont use the leading 0 then it will sort 1,10,12---19,2,20,21---etc

RE: IT Troll delivers: VCD playback on the LG DVD-3350E

ITTroll
I have been looking at this change and can see from the Firmware version display which hex code is being changed. I presume the 3351 had FE in this position. I can see from Jimbo`s page the Aiwa has DE in this position. Did you try DE and did it do anything (not wanting to try codes on my own machine just in case) I also noticed that Jimbo`s HE.11 modified firmware also has FE in this position. Sorry I seem to be rambling along here, did you try DE and did it do anything was the question.

RE: What is the Best dvd player under £200?

HMT,
No the hack does not disable macrovision so you will not be able to record to your VCR. At this time if you want a 3350 with macrovision disabled you need to buy from techtronics @ £250 or buy an external disabler.

RE: IT Troll and Friends delivers: VCD playback on the LG DVD-3350E

Jimbo > “And Croc? With Dabs selling at £189 and crippling anyone trying to get started, without an "edge" like the VCD playback, how do you suggest I beat their pricing?
It costs me almost £189 to buy the players, then we gotta add shipping, insurance, returns etc.”

Jimbo I cant answer that one, how Dabs can undercut the market by such a large margin beats me and they pay for the shipping. As I have been lucky enough to purchase one at this price I am not complaining but from your point of view I cant see how you could compete with them. For me vcd was always going to be a nice to have but not a necessity hence my choice of supplier.

Ironduke > “I was tolder under an agreement of complete silence, and I didnt pay much attension as I dont own an LG nor have plans to buy one.”

Fair comment Ironduke we all have access to information through work etc that we are obliged not to share.

Ittroll > “Have you tried:
http://uk.shopsmart.com/Electronics/Editorial/350,6.html
Listed at £188.99!”

If you follow this link through it goes to Dabs. (Temporarily Unavailable)

Ittroll “croc> I will be greedy now, what about macrovision
Jeeze, there is no pleasing some people. You`ll be telling me next that you want the moon on a stick! :-)”

If having the moon on a stick enables me to record my DVD’s for my kids to watch on their VCR. Then yes thats what I want ;-) ROFL

Thanks Jimbo and ITTroll for explaining PBC.

RE: What is the Best dvd player under £200?

I think you will find that the LG3200e does not play VCD and CDR`s as requested. The LG3350 plays CDR`s, CDRW`s and thanx to IT Trolls new hack will play VCD`s however is very difficult to find at this time.

RE: IT Troll delivers: VCD playback on the LG DVD-3350E

PN I have just done this on my Ver 1.4 and can confirm it works.

Great one IT Troll, we even get the vcd indicator on the panel. Only question though I get PBC and the run time on the display what does PBC mean ? the B is like a 3 with a line through it.

As for you Ironduke I thought this was a forum for sharing Info, If you did know before Christmas what where your motives for withholding this from LG owners. It is good that there are people on this forum still willing to share information and not look to ways of making money out of it. I know this is the real world and knowledge is king but its people like IT Troll that make these forums work.

If this works the LG 3350 has every thing the Aiwa has and a built in decoder to boot. Jimbo, could be bad news for you :-(

RE: LG3350 I found one but should I......

The recommended price is £280 pounds. the high street shops charge
£250 pounds (Curries) Dabs charge £190 pounds. That is why so many
have been ordered from Dabs. I guess its down to how much you want one now, and how much you are prepared to pay. I was not willing to pay any more than £200 pounds for a player and it took close to a month to come from Dabs but I saved £60 pounds, thats a lot of DVD`s.

The question has to be what has happened to the production of the LG3350 and the Aiwa ? why are they both not available at all, is there some big change comming ? Any one know whats going on.

RE: What player do you have, so I can work out the which players have sold the most.

I dont care if this ended weeks ago, only received my player last week

LG3350 ver 1.4

RE: WWW.EZYDVD.COM.AU/

They are cheap (au$ to the £ is good at this time)
and they knock off GST (Ausie VAT)

They ship quick (4 days for my order)

They charged me Au$9.50 for shipping 2 discs on receipt I noticed it had cost them Au$13.00 in stamps. (so no rip off on P+P)

Many titles released in Aus before the UK

And the Ausie`s use PAL format.

What more can you want from an e-tailer
Try them you will not regret, I did, very very impressed.
