ah balls, just had a look on gamespy and it`s been pushed back to the 6th July.

It is due out in the UK on the 10th June. The American release date is 7 June which is advertised as being 6/7/05 because in America the day of the month and month are put down with the day put after the month. It has not been delayed at all.

RE: Christopher Eccleston to quit Dr Who?

Unfortunetly it appears that the story is true and Eccleston will be leaving after just one season. He will be appearing in the christmas special which will probably mean it will be a regeneration story.I had hoped that he would stay for at least another season, but it seems now that this won`t happen.

As with David Tennant being a possible replacement I do think that he an actor who would be quite capable of taking on the role. He has recently starred in the BBC series Casanova which has been shown on BBC3 and it being shown on BBC1 on Monday at 9pm, as well as being in the live sci fi drama The Quartemass Experiment on Saturday at 8.20pm on BBC4.

the effects were rubbish (odd to think they were done by the same company that did Gladiator), the music was annoying and dull, there was too much silly comedy, the action was shot with no pacing or excitement at all and the concept of walking mannequins is about as scary as.... well, it just ain`t scary IMO.

There actually wasn`t much CGI used in the episode at all. I certainly wouldn`t call it terrible. Having seen some clips of the CGI in the 2nd episode The End of the World I can tell that the CGI in that episode is far more impressive than those that you saw in Rose.

RE: DOCTOR WHO - New Series anticipation thread...

Around 10m would really be an ideal audience figure. I would be suprised if the audience figure is not around that mark. Assuming the average figures are around 8-10m I would be suprised if a second series is not commisioned.

RE: Any Resident Evil fans here ?

My copy of Resident Evil 4 only arrived today. It is much better than the previous games in the series. The action is much more intence and the villagers just seem to be relentless. Just run away when you hear the chainsaw. :D

RE: Did anyone buy a DS this weekend?

aggasi I have seen the PSP and no that it is significantly longer than the DS. It probably would fit in my pocket, but it would stick out. As I have said I do intend to get a PSP at the UK launch, even though I have never owned any playstation console before. The only real major flaw I can see with the PSP is the battery life which is quite bad when compared to the DS. While I have heard Sony are developing a new battery to improve the battery life of the PSP it still won`t be able to last as long as the DS.

RE: Did anyone buy a DS this weekend?

The simple fact is that there are more games in development for the DS than there are for the PSP. This is hardly sounds like a system that is going to fail does it. There have hardly been any ports from the GBA or N64 for the UK DS launch only 3 out of the 15 launch titles are ports from those systems. Out of the 24 titles for the US launch of the PSP at least 8 titles are ports of PS2 games.

The PSP will really be hard to carry about as there is no way it can fit in your pocket, unlike the DS. I will however be getting the PSP, but I doubt I will be playing it as much as the DS because the DS has more intresting titles for it.

RE: Did anyone buy a DS this weekend?

The DS looks even better as it has now been announced that it will have a free wi-fi online gaming service. One of the first online games will Animal crossing which looks like it will be much better than the gamecube version.

As for Goldeneye the only version we will be getting for the DS anytime soon is the rubbish EA one.

Oh and Wario Ware is the best game on the DS at the moment especially if you really want to see what the DS is capable of.

RE: might do a uni course comin sept.. but how much r the fee`s? is it still 1250quid or more?

You do not have to pay any top up fees unless you are start a course in September 2006. The top up fees will only go up to £3000, but that is still to much.

RE: My new Nintendo DS has a dead pixel - do I take it back??

You should be able to take it back as it is a fault with the console. Nintendo have no tolerance for dead pixels and as such any DS with a dead pixel can be replaced.

By the way a dead pixel is not caused by actually playing on the device it happens during the manafacturing of LCD screens. If you have a dead pixel on a screen it will not get worse than it is. As long as there are no dead pixels on the next DS you get you will not get any later.

RE: PSP vs. DS

The main reason why the launch titles for the DS do not look too good is because it was rushed for launch.Third Party developers have only been able to use one of the processors for the games rather than both of the 2 processors that are availalbe. Once Nintendo update the development tools for the DS for third parties we should get a better idea of what the DS is really capable of. By the end of the year we should be seeing games that really use all the features of the DS and show the new innovative types of games that are possible. The screen is quite tough and is unlikely to break even when playing Feel the Magic on it.

I will be getting the PSP when it comes out in the UK, however it has a disapointing launch line up.

Couldn`t agree more Floyd, that plus the endless amount of ports that always appear on Nintendo systems means I`ll probably get a psp.

Only two games on the DS can actually really be considered an actual port. Is that an endless amount of ports, I think not. The PSP however will have at least 8 titles at launch that are ports. That sounds more like an endless amount of ports will be coming on the PSP.

3) Feel nintendo should of bundled a pair of headphones, non standard headphone jack to have not yet heard the sound from it properly yet.

The headphone jack on the DS is a standard one as my head phones can fit in that jack. At least Nintendo did design it so you have to buy an extra adaptor to use headphones this time.

The main problem with the DS is that there is not yet much software that really shows off its abilities, but there will be by the end of the year with the large amount of games in development. Then the PSP has the same problem with many of its launch titles being slightly updated ports of PS2 games. The touch screen will not be used as just a gimmick in games as developers such as Namco, Sega, Konami, as well as Nintendo will show in their titles. Use of the touch screen does not have to be in every game and it be stupid for it to be used in a game just because it is part of the system.

I really fail to see how the unit really looks like a toy. I certainly think it looks less like a toy than any previously release Nintendo handheld. I have no problems with playing my DS when I go on the tube.

How does the thumbstrap work?

It is really a cross between a thumb strap and wrist strap. It is attatched to the top of the DS and goes under it when being used. With the other end you put your thumb in ajusting it to the size of your and a nub of plastic rests on your thumb. You can then use your thumb on the touch screen to control the games quite easily such as for Mario 64. It may sound a bit strange, but it does really work well once you actually use it.

RE: Anyone getting/got a Nintendo DS?

I got my VIP pack the other day and so far I quite enjoy playing the DS. Mario 64 can be controlled quite well as long as you use the thumb strap. The mini games in it are quite good, but I have not yet unlocked anymore yet. The demo of Wario Ware is good and I will be getting the full game at some point. Metroid seems to very promising and the control system works very well for the game making it fairly easy to play. I won`t be getting any more games forit until the UK launch so that I can concentrate on trying to complete Mario 64.

RE: Star Trek R.I.P

It lasted 4 seasons and managed to make the 100 episode mark. The 100 episode mark is really what they waited for until they cancelled it so that it can go into syndication in America. From what I saw it was better than Voyager, but not as good as TNG or DS9.

RE: Joey

I pretty sure it is starting on 13 February as that is what posters advertising the series say.

RE: Nintendo DS - UK Launch Date and Price

Apparently the next Game Boy will be based on Gamecube technology. It is currently in development, but when it will be released is unknown.

I hope it isn`t an 8 hour charge. So when you get your nintendo DS, let me know what it is like anyway(you have to be a STARS Member to get it). I expect you`ll see a lot of these on ebay, even though the nintendo DS has no region coding.

It isn`t hard to register as a stars member and you get 250 stars for every Nintendo published Gamecube game and some Nintendo published GBA games. Really this is the only thing that has really been worth getting through this scheme unless you want to use the stars on wallpaper.

I can`t pay for the DS in the offer until Monday because payments cannot be made until then, but I have it reserved. Hopefully I will get a few weeks before launch.

RE: Nintendo DS - UK Launch Date and Price

I don`t think it can really take 8 hours to charge. Can it?

Anyway you can buy the UK DS early from the Nintendo website for £130 with Mario 64 DS and a demo of Wario Ware as well as the standard DS pack and a DS T-Shirt. It will be shipped out 48 hours after payment which means it will sent out well before the launch date.

RE: £200 for a PSP!!! and £40 a game what the ******

It is just an estimated price like everyone else has done. Other websites have it priced at £180. £130 however would be in line with the price for the PSP from other countries and would make this handheld worth buying despite the battery problems.

The DS was priced by most websites at £150 and that will actually be £99.99. I sure Play will put down the price when the price is announced. However they don`t seem to be selling the DS on their website, just the PSP.

RE: Nintendo DS - UK Launch Date and Price

And here is the list of games that will be out for launch:

Asphalt GT
Mr. Driller : Drill Spirits
Pokémon Dash
Polarium (Chokkan Hitofude)
Project Rub (Feel the Magic XY/XX)
Rayman DS
Robots
Spider-Man 2
Sprung: The Dating Game
Super Mario 64 DS
Tiger Woods
The URBZ
Wario Ware Touched!
Zoo Keeper

RE: Nintendo DS - UK Launch Date and Price

I hope that was that typo!

Yes it was. I have edited the original post which now reads that games are expected to be £29.99. At least the DS is not £150 pounds that a number of websites had quoted.

RE: family guy

The BBC have the rights to show Family Guy on BBC 2 later this year. So I assume that they will be showing the new series. See link below:

RE: scrubs on dvd?

Disney has confirmed that the set is going to released then and that it will be a four disc set. Apparently a press release will be sent out in the next few days with all the details on the set.

RE: R.I.P Nintendo DS. We Hardly knew ye...............

The DS has good sales where it has been released so I doubt it will die out quickly. So far Sony have been unable to really bring out PSPs to meet demand, but then only a small amount were available for launch. I can see both consoles thriving, but I do think the DS will continue to get higher sales as Nintendo are able to get the consoles out. I will personally be getting both, but I think that overall the DS has feature which make stronger such as double the battery life, as well as having new innovative ways to play games.

RE: farscape peacekeeper wars where and when?

The Terrestrial channel that has the rights is Five, however I have heard they cannot show the mini series until 2006. I don`t have Sky so I will be looking forward to getting the dvd and watching it.

RE: Dog owners question

Yes! One of my dogs farts are so bad that you could think that she has pooed in the room. That is not even the worst habit that my dog has. I don`t think it is that unusual and you should hope it doesn`t develop any worse habits.

RE: N Gage fever!!!

It is perfectly legal to download Java games. If you want to download cracked N-Gage games then that is illegal. This also affects game sales which means publishers may stop supporting the N-Gage and a number of games have already been cancelled because of piracy on the N-Gage. You will need to get an MMC reader so that you can easily transfer data onto your MMC. Remember to format the MMC on the N-Gage or it will be unlikely to work.

I have got the original N-Gage and it has a number of features that are not on the QD such as stereo sound, radio, mp3 player (you can download one, but it will only have mono sound).

Which games have you got by the way?
