Just heard on R5 news that it is reported in Thursdays Sun newspaper that he is to quit after only one series....If bollox please remove. :/

I think it`s true, they have just been speaking to the Suns deputy editor, it`s all over the front page and the BBC our very p***ed off about it. :/

Hope not as he is the best actor to play the part, although this could be the problem. It could be that he does not want to be typecast. As he has always been consistantly good in all the things I have seen him in such as Cracker, The second coming, our Friends in the North, etc.

I like him as the Dr. but as I said he could be an actor who always wants to do different things as he has done so in the past. He probably will get a flood of offers now that he is more well known due to Dr. Who, as he is on the TV everynight in trailers now.

Seems the site froze up on me. :(

Its either a kneejerk reaction to the hyper exposure of the last few weeks or a bargaining ploy for more dosh for series 2.

I had heard murmers of this by Monday, but paid them little heed, theres was talk of a possible reduced role for the 9th with the 8th taking up the stories in flashback, how much finwink lies behind that idea I don`t know.

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

I`d heard Simon Callow was lined up for series 2 before episode 1 had aired!

The BBC seem to be `spinning` their way out of this messy situation by cross-promoting Doctor Who and RTD`s other new series Casanova. Nice move. :)

So you`re not a fan of Mr. Tennant?

Don`t know his work just seems a waste to get to know the 9th Doctor & loose him again.

Unfortunetly it appears that the story is true and Eccleston will be leaving after just one season. He will be appearing in the christmas special which will probably mean it will be a regeneration story.I had hoped that he would stay for at least another season, but it seems now that this won`t happen.

As with David Tennant being a possible replacement I do think that he an actor who would be quite capable of taking on the role. He has recently starred in the BBC series Casanova which has been shown on BBC3 and it being shown on BBC1 on Monday at 9pm, as well as being in the live sci fi drama The Quartemass Experiment on Saturday at 8.20pm on BBC4.

BBC News has confirmed. Looks like Eccleston`s bottled out because the first episode was received so well. If I was Russell Davies, I`d be well p*ssed-off.

Tennant`s unfortunately flavour of the month at the BBC and they`d cast him as Miss Marple if they thought it would attract viewers.

If we`re looking at Doctor #10, we`re getting alarmingly close to the regeneration limit...

Come along, Watson, there`s not a moment to lose!
