So... what are you playing just now?

Matthew Smart (Reviewer) posted this on Wednesday, 18th May 2005, 21:03

And is it any good?

I`m currently trying to find the energy to finish the quite rubbish Ghosthunter on the PS2. Funds are tight, and i`m working my way through the stuff i`ve never played, but can`t sell on for an appeasing price.

So, there we are. I`m playing Ghosthunter, and it`s crap. What about you?

probably not the most interesting thread, but if i read another one with `PSP` or `chipping` in the title...

LOL :D

Gran Turismo 4 (bit late I know) - enjoying it much more than GT3

Football Manager 2005 - haven`t stopped playing this since it came out, my Villa side are unbeatable :D

Colin McRae 2005, Burnout 3 and GTA: San Andreas are in the `to get back to` pile, although none of them seem as addictive as their predecessors :/

At the moment I tend to play Counterstrike: Source when I have some spare time. That`s after working my way through Operation Flashpoint: Resistance, Battlefield 1942(mostly Desert Combat, some Galactic Conquest) and Battlefield Vietnam(a mod called Point of Existence).

I`m not actually playing many SP games apart from Op Flashpoint, but I am expecting a batch of new games to come soon from Amazon.

depends on how long a "window" I have :)

if say it`s 21:00, nothing on tv that evening, then I`l play RE4 until bedtime.

If I have 1 hour windows before something on tv/bedtime whatever, then it`s Donkey Konga Jungle Beat.

This week I am mostly playing Pariah (said in Jesse`s voice, fast show fans).

Its actually s*** and a huge dissapointment. The AI is lame, its bugged to f***, the story is crap and linear, the saving system sucks sweaty goat nads, all but 3 of the weapons are useless.........But the multiplayer is pretty good. Its the closest thing to UT2004 youll get on the Xbox at the mo...

An example of how bad the one player is. The game basically works on set pieces. Once you clear a set piece (usually by killing everything) the game saves itself. On the first vehicle level there is a set piece where you are stopped and have to pick off advancing enemies. I took a total caning on my first run through, but killed everyone and the game saved itself. I had one fraction of energy left. I had to complete over half a level without getting shot once. Which was impossible. So I had to go back and choose to start the level from the beginning. Which counts as a new game and erased half the power-ups i had found. The game tries to implement a Halo style save system, but does it in such a half arsed way it just ruins the game.

There are some good parts but on the whole it feels so much like an unplaytested Beta it makes you wonder why they had to rush it out.

I also got the Half Life 2 mega pack (thanks to the BB forum). So ive been playing a bit of CS:Source, that weird Operation Freeman game and marvelling at some of the source effects they have put into HL1.

Ive actually been playing these over the last few weeks. I dont spend ALL my time on the pooter ;)

Dear Gamesmaster,

My Friend keeps talking about `Girls`.
What is `Girls` and is it XBox compatable?

Bought "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" for my xbox yesterday. Seems pretty ok (it was only £3.50 inc p&p off ebay), but does suffer from the same problem of Pariah above in that if you finish a level with low energy you start the next level with that energy (same goes for the automatic save at checkpoints).

I also play Burnout 3 and World Championship snooker.

But from 12 oc lock today, when i collect it from the post office i`ll usually be either playing doom 1, doom2 or doom 3

I am currently playing Resident Evil 4. It`s not so much hard as really f**king intense. I can only play for an hour or so before it gives me a headache! And when I stop, I realise I`m balancing on the end of the settee.

Also playing too much Fifa (`05), and have rediscovered the delights of Mario Sunshine. A better platformer you`ll not find anywhere else this gen. Also recently completed Wind Waker finally. A joy, and I only wish I`d finished it sooner.

In between all this I fit in work, and a family. If I have time...
