Nintendo have today announced the price and release date of the Nintendo DS. It will be coming out on March 11 and will cost £99.99. It will come with a demo of Metroid Prime Hunters and games are expected to cost £29.99. A picture of the packaging is included below.

Its out the day before my birthday. Oh what a birthday present that would be. Except it doesn`t come with any games for that price and I`m left-handed. Oh well.

Sony PSP @ Play £199 I`m afraid and £35 per game. I won`t be getting one on release date but may get one later on.

Is that the time? Give me a minute and I will be there when I finish on the comp!

The price points are one of the reasons i havent bought a game for a portable since megaman on the original fat gameboy.

I resent having to pay that much money for a handheld title, especially so for the GBA. I owned all those games on the SNES and paid almost forty quid for them back then.

If the DS continues the one gen backport obsession and the PSP is as good as it looks, I think i may, for the first time in 12 years, be tempted to get a portable.

But to be honest, with a 20gig mp3 player and a phone chock full of Java midlets, im pretty much set for any journey. And I dont think my beleaguered genitals can absorb any more ambient radiation..............

aggassi have a look here, or here :)

Gotta say I agree with nick about the amount of ports being worrying with the DS (as with all Nintendo portables) and I`m definitely more interested in the PSP. I hope that price from Play is wrong ( :o ) but if its good enough I`ll probably get one. Also, theres an interesting story about the PS3 connecting wirelessly to the PSP and being able to stream content to it.

Strange, `cos that`s generally the criticism being levelled at the PSP...

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

The thing is, the PSP is porting a lot of PS2 games. The DS seems to be channeling the N64..

Dont know if anyones played Mario64 recently but its not aged well.
