    Your Opinions and Comments

Intro - To sum this in a few words, this is one of the worst film ever made. Directed by the infamous "film guru" Uwe Boll, Alone in the Dark is based on a popular video of the same name and unlike the games, there is not a single reference to the games save the name of the protagonist played by Christian Slater. The overall production is a mess, the acting is completely thrown out of the window, Christian Slater looks lost, Tara Reid looks really really stupid in glasses and scientist outfit and Stephen Dorff is trying TOO hard. The dialogue is really wooden and stupid, the editing is ridiculous something reminiscent of some badly made MTV Music Video and yeah...the direction. Need to say more about it. I`m somewhat suprised that this guy is still making films despite the number of negative reviews he`s getting and the lack of money he`s getting at the box office. Right now, he is finishing In the Name of the King: Dungeon Siege scheduled for release sometime in 2007. Want a pain inducing film? Want to look for a film with CG monsters, pointless sex and gunfights? Then look no further with Uwe Boll`s Alone in the Dark.

Video- The video is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. For the most part, the video is quite clean and is quite flawless. The real flaw here is the really bad CG monsters in this film, it`s an eye sore to say the least.

Audio- Your choice, regular DD 5.1 or DTS. Both are agressive, but the real problem is the rubbish dialogue.

Extras - In this DVD, you`ll find 2 short and self praising featurettes, 5 music vids and a bunch of storyboards. Skip all those and go straight to the commentary by Herr Boll himself. He at first admits his mistakes and then he goes ranting and raving about how this film is compared to Alien which I`m shocked by his comments. He then praises Tara Reid, who he thought she looks really smart with the glasses, total BS. What really is absurd is his appraisal for the CG in the film which he thought it was good but in reality it isn`t. According to the master of error, it took 1.5 years to complete. Oh joy.

Overall- Not worth renting let alone buying it, even if the DVD costs 1p at the bargain bin. This is from the same guy who compares himself to David Lynch and Sergio Leone and this is a really absurd statement, IMO. I can`t believe that he`s challenging his critics through a boxing match especially the ones who give a detail account on why his films are some of the worst creations ever made.
