Review of Twilight Zone, The: Vol 8

    7 / 10

    Introduction

The Twilight Zone has always been associated with the formation of a whole genre of Sci-Fi Fantasy and this DVD offers 4 classic episodes from the early 60’s.

Each DVD in the set offers 4 episodes selected because that all have a common theme running through them.

The episodes on this disk centre on tapping into the cold war hostility and fears and of the time and feature the episodes Third from the sun, To Serve Man, The Shelter and The Fugitive.

    Video

All the episodes are presented in remastered black and white and show remarkably good picture quality considering the age of the original prints. There is little artefacting or problems present on the DVD.

    Audio

The audio is presented in cleaned up Dolby digital mono and comes across clearly throughout.

    Features

There is a nice selection of features (mostly text based) on this disk focusing on Rod Serling (The creator of the Twilight Zone) and synopsises of the episodes and the series in general.

The main shame with the extras is that they are mostly the same on each DVD in the series.

    Conclusion

If you have ever had an interest in the Twilight Zone (and who hasn’t) then this disk is sure to appeal you.

There are other disks in the series that contain some of the most well know episodes and that are probable a better starting point is you are a casual fan of the show however this disk contains some of my personal favourite episodes (To Serve Man/Third from the Sun) so I am biased in speaking highly of it.

Overall the Twilight Zone DVD’s are the best versions you are ever lightly to get and do Rod Serling’s landmark show the justice it deserves.
