Far too quick for its own good

Ok, it's now officially a toss up between this and Cradle and All (aka Virgin) for the worst Patterson book that I've read. I wanted to stop reading several times, but just the knowledge that I was near the end at that something worth reading about might happen kept me going...

I read a lot of mystery/thrillers, and I've read a lot of Patterson too, but it appears that this book was some kind of experiment, to see how many silly twists you could shoe-horn into one story and how many ridiculous coincidences you could convince a reader to ignore.

This book just takes far too many liberties with a reader's intelligence and has a feel of a cheap daytime TV film about it. I wonder if it was written about as fast as I read it. I'm not giving up on Patterson just yet as I usually enjoy his fast paced reads, but I hope I won't encounter another book like this one.

If you've not read Patterson before, I suggest that you start elsewhere, this is not a good place to begin.
