Quote:
Simpsons/Futurama co-creator Matt Groening is the latest showrunner to join the online streaming platform, and he's bringing a substantial number of Futurama staffers and voice actors to a new project: Disenchantment, set to premiere in "2018." From what we're hearing, this will put the Groening-series spin on fantasy series like Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings—meaning, equal parts mockery and reverence. Twenty episodes have been ordered, and they will premiere in 10-episode chunks.

just saw an advert for Disenchantment on FB, it started a week or so ago, any watched it? how does it compare to Futurama/Simpsons?

I read an interview with Matt Groening in the tv guide saying he enjoyed not having to tie up the loose ends at the end of 22 minutes, and having longer running time per episode, as well as continuous story brought new challenges but was nice not having to cram as many laughs as possible into a short period of time.

I managed to catch the entire season and I was pretty disappointed. It's probably unfair to compare it to The Simpsons & Futurama as it is its own animal, but coming from the same studio it automatically generates a certain expectation, but this series is just dull in comparison. The characters aren't that likeable, or original, and the episodes aren't that engaging. There is an over-reaching series-bookmarking arc concerning Bean, which does add an element of watchability, but overall I wouldn;t really recommend it, unless you have it on standby when there's really nothing else on
