The official CHELSEA Champions of Europe 12/13 Season Thread

NoveltyCondomHead (Elite) posted this on Friday, 1st June 2012, 15:23

Moscow `08, I had a ticket to the Champions League Final that a friend managed to get me on his allocation. I then set about looking for travel options/accommodation. The flight to Moscow was £3000.00, the hotel another £2000.00.

I wasn`t able to go. Not for that money, no way. I gave my friend back his ticket and he sold it.

I watched John Terry slip in my living room, gutted.

Get this, a few weeks later a friend told me that his Dad had ordered a private jet and they had flown to Moscow and back that night......with two empty seats. Double Gutted.

I`m adamant that if i`d been there, we`d have won - i`m that superstitious.

This time there`s no way i wasn`t going - unfortunately I spent weeks and weeks after the Barca game trying to get a ticket. Everyone I knew was going but me, and as I gave up my season ticket for financial reasons I couldn`t get to the final - no-one knew of a ticket, anyone likely to have a ticket....nada.

Thursday, 17th May - I get a phonecall from my friend with the rich Dad, offering me a seat on the private jet to Munich. I didn`t have a clue what to do, but I thought stuff it i`m going. Then I started ringing around my mates again, they were in Munich and one of them tells me there`s a guy walking around with a banner offering to buy a ticket for 2000 euros.

So now i`m nervous,  i`m going to get there and not get anywhere. Worse still, the flight leaves at 4pm on the Saturday, leaving us an hour and a half to get to the Stadium and for me to find a ticket. I`m also not the best flyer so the thought of going to Germany and back on a small jet isn`t that appealing. My friend talks me into coming with, at least to Luton Airport where there maybe people waiting for their jets with extra tickets - at Luton I was laughed at by a few people, others just scowled at me.

I got on the plane, an 8 seater Lear Jet - on a private jet no-one turns their phone off, in fact they keep talking to their friends until about 600 feet and then the signal goes. By now i`m sh**ting my pants. My friend`s Dad cracks open the Champagne - I decided to get a bit plastered to get rid of the fear.

An hour or so later we`re landing at some Military Airport somewhere in Bavaria - it was only at the moment I realised that I hadn`t managed to get any cash out. The Luton airport terminal for private jets isn`t the normal terminal, so they have tea and coffee but no cash machines. The Munich Military airport was even less welcoming.

Three Limos were waiting for us however, for 8 people. Crazy.

The driver of my limo was a Bayern supporter and on the way he told me I was nuts to try and find a ticket. However he was going to watch the match in the limo and offered me the possibility of watching the game in the limo if i couldn`t find a ticket.

At the Arena, we all got out and the others asked what I was going to do. The first thing was to get some cash - but did you know that Allianz Arena is outside Munich in the middle of nowhere. My friend then pulled out £500 and gave it to me. He`s a builder and apparently he`d been owed money left, right and centre and they`d all settled up on that Friday.

So now I`ve got £500 and i`m standing at the V.I.P entrance. Standing there are some Bayern Supporters with handwritten signs asking for tickets. One of them offered me a piece of paper, I then asked a policeman for a pen and write "Need 1 Ticket desperately - Lifelong Chelsea Supporter".

A few people asked me what I would pay, but they walked off when I told them £400 (well you need some bartering space). It was now getting close to game time and i`m standing outside the allianz, a bit hazy, a bit dehydrated and getting more than a little anxious.

Someone then offers me a ticket for 3000 euro - I tell him I can`t afford it. I`m then beckoned over to the bus park area. Suddenly I`ve got 15 blokes standing around me and they all look a bit dodgy. I`m about to be mugged. I step back i`m freaking out - and then they tell me they`ve got me a ticket. One of the guys then opens up an envelope and shows me two tickets - he then says " you`re a Chelsea supporter, I want you to have this" , I asked how much - and he then hands it to me for nothing. I`m dumbfounded. He then tells me that 2 of his mates haven`t turned up. I`m in.

I`m a superstitious man, and I was there to watch us win the Champions League - someone up there willed me to be there. I prayed and prayed and prayed during the game and when Didier stepped up to take that penalty i knew it was in the bag. It wasn`t a great match, but it was a great match for me.

Life doesn`t get much better.

So I thought I never see a Chelsea Season Thread on here - usually it`s Man U, Liverpool or Arsenal - but for a change, for me and for my little trip - it`s good way to start a thread....

Championes!

Fair play, sensational banter.

My cousin is lifelong Liverpool season ticket holder and goes to every home and away game in Europe.

Went to Barca game years ago and got to stadium and had been pickpocketed on tube on the way so lost his wallet and ticket.

Was getting his mates to borrow money to pay over the odds to get a ticket and loads of other scouters overheard what happened and did a whip round and got other Liverpool fans walking buy to give money to buy his ticket to get into the match.

I Always remember this kind of story whenever I have a spare ticket for anything and try to make sure a fan gets it first or giving away if going to go to waste anyway thinking of Karma if I ever need to be relying on that situation.

I hope I come back every year and create the same thread - that would be something. Now onwards and upwards, my Wife is expecting our first born anyday now - it`s been quite a year so far!

Thanks, I just spat out a mouth full of tea to stop myself from choking!

Calling RJS a Chelsea supporter is one way of getting a lifetime ban from his website, but there must be easier ways........
:-D

But if I was to ban Chelsea supporters, where would the fun be in mentioning Chelsea vs Arsenal this season? :)
