MOVIETYME ARE RUBBISH

Movietyme are an absolute joke.

Use them at your peril.

Why?

If you dare to complain about their inadequate service you get your account cancelled.

I complained before Xmas about their slow delivery times and also their stupid info system.

Unlike a quality service like PLAYUSA ,whether dvd`s are in stock is a guessing game with Movietyme.
They will put discs as processing for over a week even if its not in stock.

As for hardware---forget it.
While they are quite open about their substandard policy they will sell you a Blu-Ray or HDDVD player for hundreds of pounds and take the profit, but if something goes wrong after ONE month they pass you onto the US arm of the manufacturer,so if your Toshiba dvd player goes wrong after 6 weeks you will be spending more on the phonecalls to the US than the cost of the player.

Even their standard dvd service is so slow.

Use them at your peril.

You have been warned

Should this not be in the retalier forum?

I`m a MT customer, and I find it hard to believe that MT would cancel your account because of a complaint about slow delivery times. How slow are we talking about here?

As for Hardware, if they are selling stuff for hundreds of pounds and taking the profit, why order the item in the first place? just curious thats all, not trying to defend them ect..just trying to understand.

I know an XBOX 360 HD drive is on sale with them for i think £180, and yet in this country, it`s £130, so why pay more when its cheaper in the UK?

I know customer services are slow with MT, but they have always tried to help and sort out any problems i`ve had in the past.

I have to agree - they are pretty awful with their communication. I waited and waited for the Superman Collectors Tin, it finally came out here and I contacted Movietyme. After waiting for a reply I called their listed contact number and finally someone tells me there`s a problem with the set and they have cancelled my order. Fair enough they thought it was worth cancelling because of the known disc problems, but they never mentioned it on my account - it just said processing and they never contacted me.

They have also taken a notoriously long time to deliver the item, even when their website states "in stock". My account is always showing open orders or processing without giving time estimates for delivery.

Despite showing open order for Jackass 2 - it arrived on Christmas Eve, by then I had purchased it elsewhere as I was sure it wasn`t coming (it was a present). Someone over there doesn`t care too much about the customer. Communication is key.

I`ve been p***ed off with them for a while and have been thinking about defecting. I always have to pay duty with Play, but at least they know what they`re doing.

They shut it because the distributors found out they have been shipping pre-orders early, something Movietyme get in trouble a lot for... but still do it. I`ve ordered about 15 DVDs from them over a 4 year period and not had a problem. My main complaint is they`re too fooking expensive, hence I rarely use them.

We occasionally use them for our website if we want an early review of a big title that a distributor isn`t supplying. I got all of the `original` Star Wars films a week or so early, which enabled me to get the reviews done in time for the street date. You do have to pay for the privilege though.

The reason I used them was because they quite often have dvd`s from other regions that are not easliy available including stuff on R1 that PLAY don`t have.

Hardware wise I don`t use them but I was pointing out something relevant.
I nearly got my son a PSP off there 6 months before the UK launch.
And they had Blu-Ray/HDDVD players long before the UK ones came out,but I think its a bit of a grim purchasing idea if they will only cover the goods for 1 month.
After that they tell you to contact the US or Japanese arms of the manufacturers which is not practical.

They are certainly cheaper than Enterprises dvd on every item.

I received a refund yesterday cancelling an order that I placed last week.
When I enquired they specifically stated that it was down to the complaints I made on some forums before Xmas.
More fool me for giving away my identity.

I criticised their info sytem as "queued for processing" appears almost instantly making a cancellation impossible and even when its not in stock.
It was a fair criticism as its just not as easy to keep track of your purchase like it is with PLAY.

I also whinged about the late appearances of some boxsets on their site.

Both ALIAS (29 discer) and Charmed appeared long after I had ordered from the USA and Australia.
It was more of disappointment than moaning really as I prefer to order from MT rather than direct from other countries and it was too late to do that.

They explained about problems getting hold of the sets etc and I said it was not really of interest what the reasons were ,only the end result.

And that was that, because I had posted it on a forum and to them by email along with requests for a refund on some other items,so I don`t think it was that serious.

But I explained my POV to Craig by email and I think he is reopening my account.

Its an unfortunate incident and as I have been buying from them since film fair days in 1998 I was annoyed at the treatment so I rattled of some irate posts on forums like this one.

I still stand by my criticisms and would hope that MT take the moans on board aswell as try and improve customer service a bit.

As they are only a 6 man outfit (3 in the US,3 in the UK) its obvious that at Xmas they will be working long hours so perhaps they felt a bit pis5ed off when I moaned after their 18 hour days.
