Please list here any DVD suppliers who have seriously p***ed you off/let you down! it`s time to name and shame!

e.g. sent you VHS when you ordered DVD
or over charged your credit card
or perhaps took your money and then never sent the goods!
or dont handle customer complaints
or dont answer the flipping phone!
or dont reply to emails
or just generally appear not to give a monkeys!
etc...

vent your anger!

Movietyme. Absolutely appalling service. Ordered CTHD on Jan 12th, never received a copy. E mailed them about 4 weeks ago and was assured copy was on the way. Nothing arrived. All emails since have gone unanswered. Their site says all open orders have now apparently been cancelled due to the lack of english language on new discs, and they haven`t even bothered to notify me. I`d love to find out if there was a reason my order was apparently ignored for over 2 months, but I very much doubt that I`ll hear from them again. To be frank I wouldn`t order from them again if you paid me.

Just to balance things out - I received my order for CTHD within a week of placing it, despite the distribution problems.

I agree, they do need to sort their e-mail system out, but I personally had no problems in changing delivery address for my Spartacus Criterion order.

They can be hit and miss for some people, but I personally haven`t had any bad experiences with them.

It`s remarkable how often people support these evidently shoddy e-tailers with "I had no trouble with them" type responses. Would Hitler have had to kill a member of their own family before they dis-liked him? "He may be responsible for countless deaths, but he hasn`t killed anyone I know". These forums are an immeasurably important place to find info on reliable/unreliable traders and I for one will take all the comments seriously. If I`d been lucky in the past, I still wouldn`t contradict your postings. Anyhow, at least your suffering won`t have been for nothing and will make others avoid these cowboys.

Who decides whether an e-tailer is "shoddy" or not? If I`d ordered hundreds of DVDs from a company without a hitch, I`d naturally be inclined to say nice things about them, regardless of what others were saying. People should report the good as well as the bad - it`s the only way that others can get a balanced picture and decide who to order from.

And Hitler... the Holocaust... nice to see you`ve kept a sense of perspective on this issue ;-)

The Hitler remarks were OBVIOUSLY an exaggeration and used solely to highlight the flaws of that particular argument (read it again). The point is, some e-tailers are better than others, the "shoddy" ones are those with poor customer relations. Ordering and receiving loads of discs is fair enough, but if you had a complaint or a disc was faulty, would they be helpful?, how would you know?. Example- ten people report the appaling attitude of a company and then someone steams in with "I`ve had lots of discs off them with no trouble" what does that prove?, it just riles up those that have been mis-treated.
