Hi, a few weeks ago I brought a H&B dvd player from the site www.dvdplayers.co.uk after finding a fault in that it would not output sound properly through the external speakers I did try using higher quality wires etc which did not work i sent numerous e-mails to both their technincal support and return addresses to which there has been no reply, could anyone help in any way here, I need to get the player fixed as I am happy with it just not the fact that I cant enjoy my surround sound now, any info is much appreciated, cheers.

What are you using to amplify the audio before it gets to the speakers ?

It isn`t possible to plug speakers directly to a DVD player, unless it is one of these all in one 5.1 combos that takes care of the amplification or decoding for you.

I would say keep on at dvdplayers.co.uk. (It may take some doing though), read about my experience several months ago - www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/forums/thread.asp?Forum=222&Thread=79604

I had hoped they had cleaned their act up and stoped ignoring customers with problems. Guess I`m wrong.

They sold you a product to do a specific job. If it won`t do this they have a legal obligation to help you. Do not let them get away with taking your money and providing no support.

Good luck.

All the more reason to keep on to the vendor. If they will not help you then ask for a refund. If they ignore that then get your credit card company to arrange for the refund as you have been sold goods not fit for the purpose intended and you have not been given any help despite repeated calls for it.

Ok then sent one final e-mail on friday so will leave for a few days to see if they reply if not then i`ll get in touch with trading standards.
You said about getting in touch with my bank/credit card company would that still work with a switch card?
Thanks for advise so far, many thanks.

Afraid I don`t know if refunds are applicable on a Switch card. You would have to get in touch with you bank to to find out.

I would suggest you phone DVD Players.co.uk and talk to the owner Darren Halket, but they appear to have removed their number from the website.

The only way I got an email reply was to send a several dozen copies of the same email - it annoyed them enough to reply. Does not say much for the company that a customer had to resort to such actions.

Good Luck and be persistant.

My mum & dad have the H&B DV5415S from dvdplayers.co.uk. Assuming you have the same are you connecting via the players optical output or via the 6 phono outputs???

I set this player for optical output (using a Sony Home CInema Kit) and remember in the speaker/audio menu that I had to make a few changes but don`t have these to hand.

I have dealt with dvdplayers.co.uk. Try teklahd[at]ku.oc.sreyalpdvd

Barnum42...seen a lot of your posts. Are you on some personal vendetta against online retailers?!

No personal vendettas. Praise where it is due - CD Wow, Play.com, Richer Sounds, Evesham and take no crap from the more dishonest retailers.

Too many retailers try to get away with conning the public, or taking the money and then deserting the consumer. As it`s not seen as the British thing to complain they continue to do it. I have just posted what I hoped would be useful advice to people getting trouble from a retailer.
