RE: Your Best and Worst Retailers of 2010!

Pleasantly surprised by Staples. My mother has a char from them that had a broken wheel. I went to the branch to see if I could buy a replacement wheel and was fobbed off being told that I should have bought insurance.

I contacted their head office, who were appalled at the salesperson`s attitude. The manager of the branch subsequently got in touch. The assistant manager put a replacement chair in his car, drove it to my folk`s bungalow and assembled it for them. Fantastic! Not the sort of personal service you`d expect from a big chain store.

Do Estate Agents count as Retailers? I know we expect them all to be full of lies, but my experiences with Connells show them to abuse that privilege.

RE: Zavvi Sale House S1-3 £25, Galatica S1-3 £35

Galactica 1-3 is a fiver cheaper in-store = £30

Drop the Dead Donkey box set of series 1-3 for £10 at Fopp

Picked the box set of series 1-3 of Drop the Dead Donkey at Fopp for a tenner. Some good chuckles to be had in these six discs :)

RE: New Harry Potter Book - £5 including delivery or Tesco in store (if spend over £50)

As I can`t trust my local Post Office sorting depot not to nick anything that looks remotely expensive or usable for Identity theft, I get most of my stuff delivered to work, where strangely I get no such problems, despite being only about three miles from home.

The Post Office refuse to deal with my complaint as they say they have "investigated" and are happy there is no problem. I`ve escalated my complaint to the next level - http://www.postwatch.co.uk/. If any of you have had repeated problems with the Post Office, first email the Post Office and when they do sod all about it, contact Postwatch. I`ve yet to find out if they plan to do anything about it.

But I digress - the book was delivered to me today. Not a problem as I was finishing off the latest Jasper Fforde and would not have been ready to start Potter until today.

RE: Photo Mugs and Mousemats £1.50 each at ASDA

Get a refund. If they refuse and you paid by credit card - get a charge back. You have given Asda the option to correct their mistake and as per the above reply they consider shoddy workmanship to be OK, when it clearly is not.

RE: Sharpe box set £29.99

Update - their delivery was nice and quick. Got it today...Even though there were two different addresses on the package - the company I work for and the company that shares the building.

RE: Sharpe box set £29.99

They have some slack coders there. I got in touch with their Customer Services to point out how to crash the site and that you have to fiddle the address details to get them to come out correctly.

They blamed it on Firefox!

They same things happen in Internet Explorer.

Hope they deliver more efficiently than they write web pages.

Lord of the Rings TV plug in video game - £2.50 at Asda

Looks like my gut reactions to "Amstrad" as as valid now as they were in the late Eighties.

RE: Amstrad DX3092 MPEG4 DVD Player £19.99

Not seen this machine, but from my days working in Dixons (thankfully long ago) I just can`t trust any product with the name "Amstrad" on it. They caused me nothing but grief back then.

RE: Silver Screen bargains

The "Store Closing" signs are up in the Bristol branch but the prices have yet to go down.

RE: Complete Thunderbirds £29.99

I got the only one that was on the shelf. However, it`s not marked up as a special, so it may be that you can give them a ring and see if you can order one.

RE: Complete Thunderbirds £29.99

Tanks for the Fopp heads up. Just been to the one on Park Street in Bristol and got it there for £20. It was not on any specials stand, just stacked with just the spine on view in the midst of all the regular priced box sets.

Regarding the running time mentioned above - the box lists it as 1622 minutes.

Free Siemens Poppy CL75 + FREE Line Rental

It`s via cash backs, but free is free. A few variations, if you are only after 12 months free line rental and free off-peak minutes plus don`t mind a girly looking phone this could be for you.

RE: Philips 2GB MP3 Jukebox / FM Player £69.99 (rrp £149)

"Reboxed Stock" You take your gamble there. My guess is they could be units that were previously owned, went bang and were sent back for repair.

TV series Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy £7.65

Was looking to see if anyone had the new movie on offer and found the original series for £7.65 at DVD Popcorn:

RE: Tesco - Star Wars ROTS - £9.84................

It`s instore. But the shop I was in had nothing I wanted to buy, so I ended up getting it in Asda for £13.

RE: Walt Disney Treasures

Just got my delivery from Amazon - three of the four titles are in tins, with just Volume 2 of Mickey Mouse being in just the standard case.

RE: Cheap Guitar e.t.c Tuner!

Whilst not the same model, mine cost a tenner from a local music shop.

RE: Looney Tunes golden collection

Joke of a British Gas offer

Just got a joke of an offer from British Gas:

"Fix the price of your gas until 2007"

The catch?

"Pay a small price protection payment of 3.5%"

So that means they get you to pay a price hike NOW rather than later. That gave me a good chuckle this morning.

RE: Durabrand DVD 1000

If you paid by credit card you can claim it back. I know it may seem a lot of hastle for the a few quid, but it stops those arseholes keeping your money AND when enough people do it, the company`s credit rating will be affected.
