Page 1 of black screen

hello please help,
when i`m watching a video music or other and i put it on full screen
all that happens is i get a black screen and i can hear the music
but i have done what basic things i no to do, i`m with aol at the moment
and i have altered what they suggest to do but still a black screen.
any help would be readily appreciated.

You probably need to install either the DivX or xVid codecs.

If you mean YouTube, etc, righ-click on the video and select Settings, and then on the first tab ("Display") untick "Enable Hardware Acceleration". It should work then.

deja vu

i must be getting old and forgetting what i asked,
i have had a lot of probs with the dell laptop and ended up
doing a pc restore, when i started to put things back on
i went to play a video and could not get a full screen
and i thought then i`m sure i did this before but on a old
laptop and not on this one,
thanks for reminding me it gave a big stupid :)

hopefully if none of those things worked last time they may work this time, or at least remind you how you fixed it before!

just to comfirm i did the java update and now it works fine,
don`t know if this is what i did last time and not realised it but
i have had no probs since.
