HDMI cable advice required

These seem to be priced anywhere from a couple of quid anywhere up to fifty.

For connecting a PS3 to a new digital LCD TV what precisely am I looking for and how come the huge differential in price.

I was in the same position as you a while back, and in the end I just thought I`d try one of the cheaper cables from ebay (I think I paid around £6 in total). I`m really pleased with it. A mate of mine spent £30 on his, and I can not tell the difference.

I`m sure lots of people will probably say there is a difference (perhaps not on here as there aren`t that many PS3 owners :D) - but I`m perfectly happy with the one I bought.

I think this is the one I got:

i agree with miles.

i bought a super fandango braided / gold plated HDMI cable for £30 which imo, offers
no improvement over a £4.99 ebuyer cable.

Unlike scart cables/RCA cables and the like, HDMI cables are digital cables so you either get a connection through the cable or not. There is no improvement over the quality of the connection with "Higher quality" leads.

Buy a cheapo lead and it`ll be as good as the more expensive leads, it`s just the retailers ripping people off that don`t know the difference and still think it`s the same as before with the old analog technology.

Thanks guys.
Bought a 2 metre one from Game for 12.99.
Reasonable price and it was hanging there looking at me without having to wait for the Posty (unlike the CD I was after).
Lets see if Sprog appreciates it when he fires up FIFA 08 on his new PS3 on Xmas day.

I`m sure Sprog will love it :D
Fifa 08 is absolutely great (IMHO) - and online play is also very good.

Don`t be fooled. You need a good quality cable to get trueHD on your new LCD TV. I bought a cheap cable for £10.00 and found that I could not get 1080p - Only 1080i. This was due to the cable. Look at play.com as well, some of the reviews about cables state that some of the cables only give your video without sound.

That may of been because of the version. If you can and its for the PS3 make sure its V1.3
