Anyone got their 20Mb upgrade yet? :D

Schedule: allyours.virginmedia.com/html/existingcustomers/faster/schedule.html

Anyone know how to see what the config file is in a Motorolla Surfboard SB5010E? Not as informative an interface as my old Scientific Atlanta at all. :/

oddly enough i just had a call from virgin media asking me to take further services from them, poor bastard sat through the whole story from the other month when they p***ed me off to the point of seriously considering booting even the BB into touch, at that point he asked me how my 20meg connection was going !!!! obviously i knew it was imminent, but told him i wasn`t aware i`de got it yet ?, to which he replied it had been done yesterday, on the 1st of may, (i set my tv downloads off before i go to work, so i rarely check the speeds they come down at) so whoopeee,,, i leg it downstairs to re sett the modem, & did a few tests & i ain`t got my upgrade yet. still 10 meg, but it is as solid as ever, did a utorrent test with a popular heroic tv show, i already had it, but as it had 2500 odd seeders & only 6 leechers i took it for about 30 secs to see where the speed leveled out, & as suspected it hit & stuck at 1.1mbps (max for 10 meg connection)

then came here to start a thread about it to see if you peeps had it yet......... :D

obviously found this & the helpfull link that the ever helpfull XFG posted, & it states my area as "to be confirmed" i`m assuming your in the same boat Gurly ? or have you got yours ? (i only ask cos if memory serves me, your a Liverpudlian ? & thats get the same "to be confirmed" as manchester area)

so, it`s nice to see virgin tele sales staff are upto date on the proper methods to build you customer up only to let him crash back to earth "After" you have put the phone down :D

anyway, how is everyone :)

Not as I recall.....
Following this today on the Digital Spy forums.... Quite a few saying it`s gone to less than their 10MB speeds....
I`m still "To be confirmed" although a few people are saying that theirs was saying that but had actually had the upgrade....
xfg, not sure about your modem - on my NTL one I go to http://192.168.100.1/ and log on as root - password root too and look in my config page.
Still
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 10240000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 512000...........

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

My new modem isn`t as helpful as that. (Unless there`s a hidden page I`m missing).

No that`s Sminty. :) I`m in Sheffield, there isn`t one for "Sheffield Area" not sure if I`m lumped in with another city or if it`s just not even estimated at all yet. It`s definitely not here yet. :(

Is 4mb just L then and not XL? I am sure I am happy with 4mb!

Logged onto my NTL modem using root as user & password. On the "Cable Modem Operation Configuration" tab I get...

Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 2048000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 200000

Strange because I am sure I used to get 4MB, though lately it has been 0MB more often than not (more off than on). Seriously thinking about moving to Sky..

Sam.

There was an upgrade just over a year ago that took the 4Mb package (and merged the old 2Mb and 4Mb packages) up to 10Mb, and this is the same package that`s getting the upgrade now.

How much do you pay?

I see Bristol is still TBC. Seems we`re never on the front end of roll outs like this.

I hesitate to ask this after the comments at the top of the thread but is the whole 3 in one Virgin package worth getting as I`d really like to kick Mr Mudrock into touch for TV.
Though I can`t fault Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange for reliability on Broadband.
