The Minister (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 13th May 2004, 09:28

Due to a computer mishap i have to rip all of my cds, this time i want the song ripped into mp3 instead of itunes ripping the cd in aac. Can anyone reccommend any software that will rip my cds into mp3 but also take the info about the album/song so i dont have to spend another 2 days typing all the info in manual

Thanks

Did you get MusicMatch Jukebox with your iPod? (Not sure whether they still ship it)
This uses the CDDB service (CD name lookup) - as well as enabling ripping into MP3

Also - iTunes does allow you to rip into MP3 format (see the preferences for importing) and I thought it also used CDDB, although I might be wrong

Try downloading "FreeRip" from here...

http://www.simtel.net/product.php?id=66056&cid=201

Not only is there a choice of output formats, but also incorporated is "Freedb" which searches and name tags your albums and tracks when selected....
