o music question

jemma (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 27th January 2010, 18:47

Hi All,

At about 1.30 to 2pm on 27 jan,
i was watching o music via sky.
The video i`d like to identify was female curly blond hair and playing double base or chello.

Not being a regular, i don`t know how to get the play list, i had a good look at their chart and at amazon, but did not recognise any thing

thanks

Was it a Cello or a Double Bass? The former you play sitting down, the latter standing up.

What kind of music was it and which Sky channel was it on?

@ Si - "O Music" is the classical music channel on Sky. - I think that answers both your questions. ;)

So it was a cellist. I only get a chance to watch that channel once in a blue moon, and then hardly ever know who is onscreen. Like you, I tried Google, Youtube etc etc and couldn`t find anyone resembling your description.

I`m hoping someone has an idea. Alan Titherington may be your best bet, being a bit of a fiddler himself. Might point him in this direction over on Facebook.

hmm..redirected to here via a Facebook prod..

So, female and curly blond hair. Not much to go on, but the closest I can think of is the Canadian cellist Ofra Harnoy - she should be easily goggleable to see if that`s who it is.

Alan,

I`d believe that you are spot on, thanks.

i`d be interested to know the likely track. Where i live by choice there is no sky tv

thanks

No idea about that I`m afraid as I didn`t see it. It could have been an actual cello piece, or an arrangement of something else.

Was there an orchestra in the music as well?..or just a piano?..

I would say that the most popular cello solo tends to be `The Swan` from `Carnival of the Animals` by a French composer called Camille Saint-Saens...so may be worth hunting around for that. If it isn`t this, then I`ll have another think.
