Antony and the Johnsons

Undecided about this album, anyone else?

He has a very odd and interesting voice, and a sound that is kinda unique I guess. Still can`t decide if I think its really really good or just very odd. :)

From what litle I have heard I can`t think of a worse listen.

Can`t stand his voice.

All the best,

It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....

It took me a few listens to get used to his voice, but after that I really started liking the album a lot - I now consider it among the best albums I`ve bought this year, and it`s a nice change to hear something so very different.

The thing is I could not give it a few listens. I would want to put my foot through the speaker. I am open to new things. Thought Seth Lakeman was exellent and I am going to see him in october, but A and the J`s. No thanks.

All the best,

I am listening to the album for the first time right now - and I am very much enjoying it so far. :)
I had not heard of him before watching the Merucry prize, and found his voice weird at first -but there was something about the performance that intrigued me, and I`m glad I bought the album.

I think distinctive voices like this are a very personal taste - love or hate - but I`d rather have a few standout albums with a unique sound than racks full of sound-a-like MOR ballads.

I was also impressed by Seth Lakeman`s perfomance on the Mercury prize show, and will be buying that next.

Saw the Mercury Prize show and really couldn`t see what all the fuss was about. He sounded awful to me - and I have quite odd tastes normally!

Seth Lakeman, on the other hand, was outstanding and a real find as far as I`m concerned.

You know where you can stick your opinion?! :p ;)
I`ve had the album for nearly 6 months now (ordered from US) and it`s a real grower. Great voice and beautiful songs - I much prefer listening to them than the usual load of chart dross.

If you are asking for opinions, I think I`d rather have my foreskin pulled over my head than listen to that again, but that`s just my opinion- if it floats your boat, so be it
