RE: Sky`s Annual Increase

When Sky+ became free I rang up to cancel the premium channels (as I wasn`t watching any movies anyway). I was warned that going to a much cheaper package would mean I no longer got the magazine (as if that was a bad thing I would want to avoid). I said that was not a problem, don`t read it anyway. Years later I still get the thing every month and it goes straight into recycling.

RE: The 2007-2008 IT`S SNOWING! Thread

no snow here in Reading - but the rain on my car windscreen did look more like sleet as it splatted.
I am hoping it will warm up a bit - scraping frost off the car every morning is no fun.

RE: ebay help please

Thanks for the help -I thought there must be some contact options, but couldn`t find them.

Stanz - you may well be right - all the security/fake type message options in help refer to emails. It took a while to find a subject line for the email that was vaguely suitable subject, but did not insist on a `body of dodgy email` to be copied to a mandatory field.
But would a scam really go to the expense of posting a glossy brochure all about how to sell on ebay ?

I will await their response.

RE: Rush - Snakes and Arrows

ooh - where did you get the bootleg from ? can I get one too 8)

When is an official DVD being released ?

ebay help please

I hardly ever use ebay, but know some of you here are quite knowledgeable.

I received a welcome letter from ebay today - or rather a letter came to my house addressed to someone else with the same surname who has apparently recently registered as a business on ebay :/

There are no contact details on the letter, other than a registered office address in Switzerland, and a link for booking a complimentary advice session.

I can`t find a `contact us` link anywhere on ebay. Is there a way to get in touch with them to find out what is going on and get this sellers account cancelled /my address removed. Or is my only route to register for a consultation appointment and get them to ring me during the work hours in which they operate - while I am at work (which is not convenient next week) ?

I hate internet sites that don`t give ready contact links when needed :(

RE: Rush - Snakes and Arrows

Thought you`d enjoy it Ste :D
Lil` Rush are ace ;)

All my photos area bit shaky.

RE: Rush - Snakes and Arrows

Tuesday Wembley:)
Friday NEC :) :)

Soo looking forward to the second concert of the week - once is never enough.
Thoroughly enjoyed Tuesday`s show. Lots of track I hadn`t been expecting. Plenty from Snakes & Arrows too - the best album they have done for years.

RE: Any Rory Gallagher fans?

Calling Card is a favourite of mine - but I have quite a few Rory Gallagher albums and there are none I don`t like :)
I did manage to see him live many years ago too - fantastic musician.

RE: Genesis gig to be broadcast live at selected Cinemas` In HD and 5.1....

Back to the original question - I saw Robbie Williams Intensive Care album launch concert from Berlin broadcast live at a cinema. Sound quality was probably not amazing to a hi-fi buff (though perfectly acceptable for me) - but it was an enjoyable experience and I was glad I went. There were no sound drop-outs and it was all very professional (I believe it was the first time a transmission to loads of cinemas across Europe was done too).

I have just given my Manchester Genesis tickets to my sister and her husband, because I can`t get up there that weekend. There is also something in me that can`t quite stand the idea that they are playing a concert at Wembley `to save the earth` in the afternoon, and then flying (presumably) to Manchester for the evening gig. Wonder if they`ll plant a few trees in some misguided attempt to make it all eco-neutral :(
I was looking into seeing if I can find a ticket for Twickenham instead - but this cinema thing may be a much cheaper option ...

Tormato is one of my favourite Yes albums too :)

RE: Rush touring!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

I`ve just got my tickets for Wembley :)
I hadn`t expected them to include Europe again, after spending a decade away. The 30th anniversary tour must have proved we`ve not forgotten them.

Don`t forget there`s a new album out on 30th April too ;)

RE: DVD Recorder - can you create menus?

My Panasonic allows me to choose a still or the image on each title, and to edit names as required. It shows eight images/titles on screen at a time.

It is s freeview tuner -and will automatically put the program name as the title, Otherwise it defaults to date and time of recording being made. These can be edited to whatever you want though.

RE: Do Itunes Store purchases count towards a single`s chart position?

Chris Moyles ran a big campaign on his morning show for Billie Piper to be downloaded soon after the rules changed in January. It reached #17 for one week then disappeared into obscurity again.

A few other similar attempts have been made- but none have made any impact.

There is speculation about what will happen when the Beatles back catalogue is finally made available on-line, and whether the chart will fill with old Beatles songs.

RE: Genesis to reform ?

I wandered onto Seetickets looking for something else today, and ended up with Genesis tickets just before they totally sold out :) I hadn`t realised they were going to be on sale :/

RE: Rush fans - check this out!

Thanks :) I know I shouldn`t but can`t resist :/

RE: Socceraid

I was there bowfer -there was a guy in front of me recording Maradona through most of the match - I could have sworn he was the only one there not supporting England - though his son was there for Gazza (sulked when he left the pitch).

RE: BBC interview wrong person!

I wonder how many people realsied who the man at the start of Jonathan Ross tonight was - no explanations were given :)

RE: Jeff Wayne`s War Of The Worlds Live

I saw this at Wembley Arena last night - it was fantastic.
They were filming the show for the DVD - which I will definitely be getting :)

RE: Very cheap car on Ebay

Quote:

I will offer a full refund, upon the return of
the item in original condition (return postage at my expense).

I would love to see the look on the face of the woman in my local post office when I ask to post a car to Ireland ;)

RE: Will Wembley Stadium ever be finished

Apparently Will Hill have Wembley at 100/1 not to be ready for the 2012 Olympics....
probably worth putting a fiver on that :/

RE: The LORDS says NO to Compulsary ID cards

What worries me about all this fingerprinting is the risk of errrors. If fingerprinting had been scrutinised to the extent of DNA testing it would be shown that it is has a much higher error rate (according to research I have seen published in Scientific Journals) - but since it was already accepted practise years ago no large scale proper scientific studies have been authorised (in fact they have been postively discouraged in the US, maybe because of the implications for mass appeals from prisoners if any doubt is placed on fingerprint evidence).

How long before you are denied services / arrested for falsifying identity because the automated machines cannot match you own fingerprint patterns to your ID card after a spot of gardening covers your fingertips in scratches. Or arrested because a trawl of a database has wrongly matched you as having perpetrated a serious crime ?

RE: Will Wembley Stadium ever be finished

Wembley gigs scrapped after delay

Four concerts planned to be held at the new Wembley Stadium will no longer be staged there as the venue will not be finished on time, the BBC has learned.

US rock band Bon Jovi were due to be the first band to play at the rebuilt stadium on 10 June.

Take That, Robbie Williams and the Rolling Stones were also due to play over the summer.

The stadium project has been beset with problems and is already over budget and more than six months behind schedule.

RE: Life On Mars repeated on BBC4 next week

Thanks -I`ll finally be able to see the epsiode I missed :)

RE: Newer Intro `Ad` messed up :-/

The same has happened to me. Is it something to do with the survey , which I also got hijacked by (I was good and filled it in though) .

Will Wembley Stadium ever be finished

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4853566.stm

Workers can`t be paid, sewage sytem is collapsing, roof beams falling.. :(

What is a realistic timescale for getting it finished now ?

RE: Well done Reading

Not a football fan myself, but they`re the local team so heard little else but speculation about this on local radio this week. What was the actual score ?

Well done Reading :)

RE: FREE CHOCOLATE !? free chocolate ?!?!?!?!

It took me a while to remember why I got chocalate with this mornings post too :)

RE: All About Eve

I had a time-out voucher to use at cdwow, so can`t really complain when it cost less than a fiver. I just want to get it now :( I remember seeing them play at the Albert Hall many years ago :)

RE: All About Eve

Thanks for reminding me .
I`d forgotten that I ordered this from CDWOW - so just been to check my emails and found it`s delayed and they won`t have it in stock till 27th :(

RE: 9/11: The Falling Man

I agree on that point. If you know death is imminent and are able to make a choice as to whether it is by burining/smoke inhalation/jumping it is not suicide (there was no option available to live in that situation). :(
