SONY D-V7000 WON`T PLAY!!

Andrew Dawson (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 10th November 2000, 23:28

A friend of mine brought back this bargain from India; it`s a small DVD player that looks standard. But so far he can`t get it to play anything from Blockbuster or any of my Region 1 or 2 DVDs, now that he is back in this country. Any ideas?

Cribbed straight from the FAQ
(which I recommend you read)

Region 0: All areas of the world. (Dependent on video standard)

Examples include porn films, Criterion films and many documentary and special interest films - often in NTSC though.

Region 1: Canada and U.S. (NTSC)

Region 2: Japan (NTSC), Europe, South Africa, Middle East.

Region 3: Southeast Asia, East Asia, Hong Kong.

Region 4: Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, Caribbean. (formats vary but Australia is Pal)

Region 5: Former Soviet Union, Indian Subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, Mongolia.

Region 6: China.

Region 7: Unused (Reserved).

Region 8: Special international venues (airplanes, cruise ships, etc.).

i think you may find this is only a video cd player not a dvd player...hence it wont play any dvd`s only vcd`s that are a popular format in the far east.

I have 1 of these and know this for a fact. check the instructions...no mention of dvd`s and no dvd logos
