Digital Camera advice

Navs (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 16th March 2006, 17:11

Hello folks :)

I`m looking to get a new camera:

I`ve narrowed my choice to these two:

The Canon S3 IS
link here for ref:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000EW98KC/qid%3D1142528546/202-5435788-2419851?tag=myrev09-21

Or the Fuji s9500
link here for ref:
http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/135392/art/fuji/finepix-s9500-zoom.html

The Fuji was released in Sep 2005 and the Canon is due I think in April.
Any advice please would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Nav

Not on that specific camera but IMHO they make the best cameras around so it will probably be a good buy. Try looking at Steves digi cams or some page like that it also often has good reviews on it.

Yeah I`m thinking that too. Both of these are about the same price. Only main difference being that the Canon is 6Mp and the Fuji is 9Mp. I`m really stuck as to which one to go for as I`ve already got an Fuji s5000 and loads of Xd Memory Cards which leads me to think that getting the s9500 would be more benefitial. But the Canon is a newer model and has 12x Optical and has the reputation of making the best cameras. Anyone assist in making my choice? :)

Only other advice, is purchase one from where you can return with little hassle if you dont like it, may have to pay a bit more, though 16:9 widescreen mode on the canon looks interesting.

I`ve had several digital cameras & Kodak is the one make I wouldn`t buy. Canon, Fuji, Panasonic & nikon would be my first choice. Sony would be on the list but for ther Memory stick prices.

This is the camera I bought about a month ago & it`s the bee`s knee`s for me

It can be bought from as little as £208-00 but it will take about a week to arrive, there are several other places that do it next day for about £250-00. Above your price but a fantastic `pocket` 10 X zoom.

Bit too pricey for me im afraid. Another thing that i would like is a display that actually works in low light. My current fuji camera is crap in low light.

I`ve been recommended the Panasonic Lumix FZ7. 6MP, 12X Optical Zoom.
