Tesco Direct have a smashing sale on home brew beer kits. £7.50 for Brewmaker (Muntons) 1.8Kg Pilsner/Lager/Best Bitter/ Heavy and others. Brewed a few of these kits and they are well worth the money at the normal price, 40 good pints for  £20 with brewing sugars (£15-kit £5 sugars) . Now at £7.50 per kit it works out at about £10 (Including brewing sugar at £2.50 ) for 40 pints of 4-4.5% . 25p a pint, give it a go folks .

Never really understood the enjoyment of the slow brewing hobby of making your own made booze. But if you are into it, then good on'ye cobber.

I would rather for convenience go down the supermarket and buy a case of beer or lager.

But you have reminded me of my old uncle back in Oz who brewed his own, which was highly volatile and tended to blow up in the cupboard :D

PS...It was good stuff when it survived the fermenting stage intact. Maybe home brewing nowadays is a lot safer.

Unless you're bottling it there's now much that can blow up I used to brew my own years ago and all the stuff is still in the loft, pressure barrel and all.
Truth is though these days it's so cheap to buy, even quality stuff, that it doesn't seem worth the effort.
That is unless you're into it seriously as a hobby.
