Job Problems

So came to 4 star hotel 3 months ago to cover as reception manager for maternity cover, did mention on another thread how much harder it had been than I expected and now put notice in, no staff, lost 3 receptionists since I came, I say receptionists but much more here, no central reservations so that needs to be done, banking done, emails, well currently we have over 500 unread and no time to do them as the phone never stops and updating and inputing reservations for afternoon tea, lunch, dinner, putting in room service orders all before we actually do anything room related....currently I have a rooms division manager who frankly is out of his depth and when he does full reception shifts I have to come in and fix his mistakes, the worst receptionist I have ever had, strike that the worst person I have ever worked with, I really think she is bi polar and I was told has 17 years reception experience, if she has 17 weeks I would be amazed, and a 21 year old australian girl who hates it here and is not fully trained.....
Add to that the many maintenance issues which we get every day and there is nothing I can do anything about, the lack of staff in every other department which impacts us on reception and I remember now why I started doing agency work :)
I have tbf fought my corner, told my boss and the GM we needed to get rid of the receptionist as no one wants to work with her, told them i needed agency staff to get in to hold the fort, they wouldn't pay the fees, and I am off :)...the plus side is I get to visit the states for few weeks so see old friends

Sounds like a nightmare! Nothing worse than when you are working somewhere which is struggling and nobody will give you the resources to fix it.

States trip sounds like just what you need!

Carry your bags sir?

Go and breathe in some of that good old Trump BS and take your mind off things.

Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

well the flights i worried were going to be a bit of a problem, eventually found one from heathrow which i am half hour from to roanoke via chicago for £621, after booking it though got call from states telling me because i used a foreign card i needed to scan my passport and card and send to them even though it was a .co.uk website so knocked that on the head and landed on my feet.....I got a flight to orlando with thomas cook airline from stansted to orlando and returning to gatwick for £379 and internal return from orland to roanoke for just over £100 and that gives me 1 full day on way out and week or so on way back so try and hit universal on that day and see on way back.....used to go to orlando every january for 2 weeks before my long term travel so looking forward to that :)
