Amateur Spam

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Friday, 27th September 2013, 01:13

It's actually almost sad.
I have an email confirming my Amazon order, which needless to say I haven't made. It comes from an auto confirm Amazon account which obligingly has the actual yahoo account bracketed alongside. Three more addressees and several more that it's been CC'd to.
Probably best to just bin it but if anyone has any suggestions as to where it might cause most aggravation for the sender if I were to post the email address up feel free to let me know.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Thanks Rob.
Had a look at Spamcop but seems more more geared towards people like yourself, running sites etc.
I'll just bin them (another turned up today, same format different sender).
I've had a couple of 'You are due a tax refund' which very nearly caught me out before I remembered HMIT don't deal by email.

In fact since Sky went from Google mail to Yahoo there seems to be more spam getting through anyway, not an unmanagable amount just more.

Spamcop isn't just for server admins, what it does is email all the people in the spam who are responsible for it, or can do something about it, if there is anyone. Often it comes from places that don't care, but sometimes it comes from a compromised PC on an ISP, and sending it via spamcop gives them a chance to let the user know.

I had that on an email address which I use forĀ  junk mail, so I blocked it.
