`Road rage` pretty much at its worst.  Could easily have killed the guy.  Unbelievable really.

Wow, just wow. I`ve seen some people drive a lorry like they own the road, but that`s... just... wow.

I`ve had lorry drivers swerve all over the motorway lanes to stop you getting past just because they were hacked off at cars going past when you`re about half a mile off roadworks but never seen anything as bad as that video.
That should have gone down as attempted murder not dangerous driving or using a vehicle as a weapon.

But then, as you read further down there`s always one who wants to use it as an excuse to promote their own agenda:

Quote:
Martin McDonnell, from Bristol Cycling Campaign, said incidents like this were happening far too often.
It`s about time cyclists were treated as human beings and not just flesh," he said.
Really?
Well start acting like Human Beings and wait at red traffic lights. Stop weaving in and out of traffic. Start using lights and hi vis clothing at night. Stop cycling the wrong way in one way streets. Stop just jumping onto pavements and using pedestrian crossings without Cycle lanes just because you don`t want to wait a few extra seconds.

Oh and yeah, if you want dedicated Cycle lanes and safety measures MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO THE COSTS AND DON`T JUST EXPECT IT AS A RIGHT BECAUSE YOU OWN A BIKE!

Soz for shouting all ;)

While I agree with a lot of Jimbo`s comments above, it in no way excuses what I just saw on that video. That was shocking. I`m glad the bus driver has been sent to prison!

Go on Jimbo mate you tell`em.
Everything he said with knobs on.

Which in no way excuses the bus driver.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I guess the fact that most adult cyclists drive too, thus pay road tax, doesn`t really come in to it.

I ride a bike too - but rarely on roads.  I`ve never known as many cyclists to ride around with no lights on though as this year.   Or just a rear one - yeah, that`ll stop someone pulling out on you. :/  Or ones with the flattest of batteries in and a tiny glimmer coming from them.  A decent set of AA`s still should last a year+ so put some in!!!

Not up here they don`t.
I`d say out of every ten cyclists I see 4 are foreign descent (polish/Asian/Chinese etc) and at least 4 are of Student age (ie: under 25 and usually with the standard student look about them... not wanting to over generalise but you guys know what I mean ;) )

Oh, and none of us pay road tax any more, we all pay a "vehicle tax" and have done for some years ;)

although some cyclists are idiots, it`s always the same anti cyclist rhetoric that comes up, and i`m not a cyclist myself. OK, a lot of what jimbo says is right, but what about drink drivers, drug drivers, tired drivers, red light jumping drivers, wrong way up one way street drivers, parking on pavement drivers, speeding drivers, tail gating drivers, driving too fast for the condition drivers, knocking cyclist off bikes drivers, sneeking past cyclist almost knocking them off drivers, parking in disabled bay drivers, parking on double yellow drivers, and the list could be a lot, lot longer, so the odd cyclist who jumps up onto the pavement to dodge a red light, but does no harm, and i admit if someone is on the pavement it could be dangerous, is really a bit of jealously as they are off and we are waiting. How many people were killed because of cyclists or cyclists killed as a direct result of their actions, very few, it`s the driver of the car in the vast majority of cases, not giving enough room overtaking, or turning left over a cycle lane, not seeing the cyclist. i could go on, but i`ve writer`s cramp. Just my two penarth.

A just decision in my opinion, whatever sparked off the incident it was no justification for the bus drivers actions, end of....

But to add my two penarth as well, some of you might be aware i am an "ex bus driver" and could write a bloody book on the exploits of pedestrians, cyclists and car drivers v buses - i cant speak for all, but my approach and training from the company was top notch, - you drive defensively, that is to say "back off" from any probable incidents that are likely to end in tears, - where this drivers herad was i have no idea, my only concern was the 30 odd passengers i had charge of in the back - a vast majority of them possibly elderly if it was during the day - and to be honest in any "incident" occured it wouldnt normally be the bus that suffers the damage, i just find it staggering how people gamble with their own and others lives when it comes to general traffic behaviour, buses for some reason being a good target, they have a simple job to do and thats move people round town, mostly exascerbated by pedestrians walking in front of you with pushchairs 2 feet away from the zebra crossing and then looking at you like you fell off the bottom of their shoe, across main roads while the lights are green, nice and sedately like it was a sunday stroll - cyclists as well hanging on to your mirrors as you pull away, cylcists late at night wearing black with no lights, car drivers sitting in the bus layby waiting for the family to get out while you have a disabled passenger in wheel chair waiting to disembark and get the "tosser sign" when you give them a short beep to get them to move on!

Bottom line is we all have a tail to tell and can cherry pick those at fault, iv`e done it myself above - but i was always aware of my fellow road users, waved at those very few that let me out into the flow of traffic and smiled - it payed dividends trust me.

Its just a shame that the usual suspects come crawling out of the woodwork to claim the incident as a means to forward their own cause, very unprofessional in my opinion - a one off situation - man bites dog if you like - i wish the bike rider a speedy recovery he didnt deserve that, and no doubt lots of internal legal stuff will now follow.

The love hate relationship between all road users will never get better until the bad road users of all types of mobile transport wake up and realise they don`t own that bit of road they are driving on, its give and take, road manners have taken a back seat to the me me me individuals that seem to be more prevelant on the roads these days.

(just an observation - their also seems to be an increase use of mobility wheelchairs that are using the side and main roads - a change in the law has allowed some of these things access to our highways...)
