Tom Tom gone gone

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Friday, 20th August 2010, 00:39

Tom Tom One series 3 working fine two weeks ago.
Switched it off and went on holiday for 2 weeks.
Come back and plug it in, get the little green light but wont switch on.
I`ve even left it USB`d to the desktop for 6 or 7 hours and still nowt.

Is it and ex device or is there some way to wake it up.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

There is a reset button hidden around that you can press (I think with a paper clip) that will maybe fix that. You need to look on their website to see where it is on that model specifically.

Also if it is a model with a memory card, remove that and reboot it.

Reset button does nowt and it`s a pre memory card model.
After a bit of Googling it`s currently sitting here with the back off and the battery disconnected for a while.
I`ll let you know if it comes back to life.
Otherwise it`s off to the shops before the other half demands hers back.

If anyone else gets the same problem.

Take the back off, unplug the battery and leave it for an hour plus then if you put it back together and do a reset it should come back to life.

So do you think it is a charging issue?

Very probably.
Not sure how it works but maybe too little charge left in it to accept that it was connected to anything but just enough for it not to clear whatever was left in it`s memory.

Slightly off topic, but can anyone tell me the biggest screen size you can get on any make of sat nav unit ?

Most of the ones I have looked at are too small to see the print on screen, while on the move.

Mine reads out street names, so the print on the screen isn`t really an issue most of the time.

First job when switching on any Sat Nav.
Turn the noise off!

I understand they can talk back ok, its just puting the information in, in the first pace as its soo small a screen, thats why i would like the biggest screen size. Which is ?
