Best way to get Sky with two tuners?

RJS (undefined) posted this on Monday, 14th January 2002, 22:18

Hi chaps, we are dumping NTL Digital and going Sky Digital, but need to be able to watch two Sky channels in different parts of the house from the same dish at the same time.

Whats the best and cheapest way to do this? Sky tell us they want £200 rental for the second box which seems rather high to me. :/

The way that i understand it, you get a free minidish and digibox when you sign up. If you want additional boxes to show separate channels, you have to BUY an additional box at £200, and then pay an extra £10 rental per month on top of your normal sky package. Go to the website cos that has helped me out in the past.

It might pay for you to look into Sky+ as I know it has two built in tuners, but don`t know if it can show different channels in different rooms.

Thanks Wedge, alas Sky+ seems to set you back £300 for the box, which is more expensive than getting the first free and paying for the second.

Robert,

unfortunately if you don`t want to go the Sky+ route then your only option is to buy an additional box (you can get a second cheaper than 200 bucks from a reputable indi supplier) and pay an extra £12 monthly subscription to Sky.

I`m in a similar situation but I already have sky and am thinking of getting Sky+, although the £300 doesn`t do much for me !!!

let me know how you get on !

If you look at what Sky + does though, its the absolute dogs danglers! I know its a bit much, its primarily a hard drive as well as being able to have 2 tuners... but hey im sure the price will come down when they only sell 2 units in the first year...

Sky+ also gives Dolby Digital on many of the Sky Premier w/s movies. As with all new technology, the price is bound to come down over time.
