Cheap PS2 games at John Lewis

http://www.johnlewis.com have reduced some PS2 games for clearance. Metal Gear Solid 2 is only £24.95 + delivery.

It is also relatively easy to find a £10 off voucher for a first purchase at John Lewis. I got MGS2 for under £18 (incl delivery). Bargain.

Being Scottish, I enjoyed England lose. Why?

The media had built England up into a world beating team (as per usual) and the whole of England had started to believe this. Even I ,as a Scot, had started to think England were potential winners. This media arrogance was rewarded with a Brazilian victory.

Face the fact, England were not good enough.

Sweden - lucky to escape with a draw.
Argentina - a dubious penalty and some inspired Seaman saves gave England a deserved (I`ll admit that) win.
Nigeria - boring!
Denmark - a good performance.

Then came Brazil. Believe the media and all England had to do was turn up. Brazil couldn`t defend and England`s defence were more than a match for the South Americans.

However against Brazil, England were terrible. What happened to their key players, did Beckham do anything this World Cup?. The lack of width in the second half was a tactical blunder, but who did Sven have to give them this? To finish with Vassel, Heskey and Sheringham up front highlighted how poor England are.

With the players available to them, England should be a much better side. I wish Scotland had half the amount of players to choose from.

England fans like to chant "Are you Scotland in disguise" at the oppostion. Today England were Scotland in disguise! It was that bad.

So who`s oil was it? I think the revenues were taxed by the British gov`t. Do we get a refund?

England can get rid of Scotland for all I care. I`m sure we could sponge off Europe, as obviously we are incapable of surviving by ourselves.

Pity that it would make the prospect of Tory rule much more likely in England. Scotland (and Wales for that matter) have huge majorities of Labour MPs.

No wonder the prospect of European integration scares so many people. Imagine not being the dominant country in a union for a change.

Sandy had the right idea escaping Big Brother. Clever guy even chose to do it whilst the football was on. I knew Nigeria v England was a boring game, but I didn`t think it was that bad.

There is a difference between wanting a team to lose than hating something. It`s only a game after all.

It is about time England had some of their own nationalism. Thankfully their supporters have realised that the St Georges Cross and not the Union Jack is the English flag. If only they could come up with their own national anthem.

However this has to be reflected in UK-wide media properly. When the BBC (there is British in there somewhere) refers to the England team (whatever sport) as we, our boys etc, then it p*sses off the non-English viewers.

Saying that, it wasn`t as bad as ITV jumping on the Irish bandwagen the other day. Nothing wrong with supporting the team but I didn`t realise Des and Terry had changed nationality.

The Sun this morning was very critical of the England team:

Was The Sun as critical in the English version.? Same paper/same owner - different messages to different audiences. Classic segmentation but all it does it add to the divide.

Scots do call the English `sassenachs`. However, this is an old word and is frequently much less used. My Granny would use it and she has been dead for years. Maybe it is time the English stopped calling the Scottish `jocks`.

Billy Connolly may use that word. But he probably uses it in the same context as Lenny Henry uses `n*****`. Neither are right and are just used to `get a laugh` from the `racist` element of the audiences they are performing to.

Being Scottish, the term `jocks` is deeply offensive and racist. However unlike n*****, paki or chinki it seems to be an acceptable term to use by the English media.

Only once have I supported England. Euro 96 when they were playing Holland. At 4-0 up Scotland were through and then (was it on purpose?) Seaman let a soft goal in.

I will support England again. That day? WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER.

Like the majority of Scots I would love to see England lose to Nigeria and exit the World Cup. It`s not the nation or the people I dislike it`s the attitude of the media and supporters that gets to me.

However, before I get a load of abuse back from the English supporters I would like to point out two things:

1. It is my right to support whatever team I want!
2. How many people support whoever are playing against Man Utd, even Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. Is this not something similar?

RE: Star Wars Episode III - What will happen ?

So much to happen in Episode III and only a few hours to do it in.

Why not split it into two parts have Episode III.I and Episode III.II!

That would extend the Star Wars franchise for a few more years and a few more hundred million for George Lucas.

Episode II was a good film but try playing the first few minutes of Episode IV and remember it was made over 25 years ago. Now that was impressive stuff.

Safeway bargains

Don`t know if this applies to all Safeway`s, but it is worth checking.

Selection of DVD`s at £7.99 - most notably Sexy Beast. Others include Shawshank Redemption, Nutty Professor, Toy Soldiers.

Nah, Amazon have the 4 disc Collector`s Edition for £33.74 + postage. The 2 disc set is £18.74 and the normal (i.e. non-collectors 4 disc set) is £22.49.

As for deriving more pleasure from seeing England losing than the performance of our own team - what pleasure is there seeing Scotland lose 5-0 to France?

How slow are Splash DVD?

Ordered Memento from Splash DVD (formerly Under-18) on Sunday 3 March. Still not been delivered. Would have been quicker ordering it from the other side of the world!

Went to a Safeway in Edinburgh this evening but they had sold out of everything bar O Brother....... Dunno if they will get more stock in.

However I did get a haggis for 99p (MacSweens the best), 2*6 pack of Walkers crisps for 49p per pack, 1/2 price chicken breasts and six packs of Sprite for 99p.

At least I`ve plenty to eat!

Try Grand Turismo - the graphics are amazing although the gameplay can get a bit limited after a while.

Alternatively, SSX Tricky is the best snowboarding game around.
