Avoiding Big Brother

biglebowski (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 6th July 2006, 14:28

As a person who hates Big Brother with a passion i`ve been pleasantly surprised by how easy it has been to avoid this one. For previous Big Brothers i`ve known names of housemates, goings on, shenanigans, high-jinkery and general jiggery pokery, despite avoiding it like the plague. Even just reading the headlines on news websites generally kept you informed.

But this time i can honestly say that i can`t name a single member of the house or a single thing that has happened in there.

Anyone else notice that it`s easier to ignore this time?

yeah definitely, not sure why though either, maybe all the news being taken up with sport this summer is a factor :)

Yeah, it seems easier to ignore.

Im guessing that the World cup has filled the void traditionally held by Big Brother. I know a few papers hate BB but cover it because it adds a decent % to their turnover.

The WAGS for example have taken the place of the women who stuff bottles up their chuffs.

Although, maybe its popularity is on the wane. There arent as many posts in a whole forum this year as there were last years single thread. Admittedly 90% of the posts were Batavia talking to himself, but still......

I occaionally catch a few seconds of it while im eating my breakfast. The big brother house seems to have been replaced with my old student flat, which slightly confused me so I turned it over.

I watch it in the morning when my brain is knitting together... it is incredibly boring, and the people are a p*** poor selection. If they were at my bus stop I`d walk it, so how they can all stand to live together is beyond me..

bollocks.. I`ve forgotten to set sky plus for it tonight.

has anyone heard from Batavia? I thought he was going to end up in the big brother house..

Since no one knows what he looks like, he could have been the one shoving his knackers into that birds face (consequently provoking a change in the law governing streaming material on the internet by those bizzarely uptight and prudish aussies)

This year has been a great way to avoid the world cup! Other than the shrieks from the family next door (last night mean anything?) It`s been a World cup free summer so far! Bliss!
