Pfft....Star Wars Episode 1 sucked. Plain and simple. I`ve even re-watched the film to make sure I wasn`t just being cynical, and it sucked even more the second time.
It may have Star Wars stuff in it, but it just ain`t Star Wars!

I totally agree, a terrible film.

And what hell were they thinking using that shiny silver space craft!!!!!!

Am l asking too much?

mate of mine has had the special edition laserdiscs for years now,and he has the jap version of phantom menace.ok,so laserdisc is now crap and outdated-BUT,its still the only way of hearing star wars in dolby digital surround.i have to say that they all sound utterly awesome, the explosion of the death star is foundation threatening!
and i agree, however much extra material is on a disc, extras to not compensate for a bad movie-hence,alas for u poor devotees-the phantom menace will still be utter crap played at demo rooms up and down the country....
To Lucasfilm;People want the trilogy, not some half baked nonsense that george thought of over pie and chips for tea at skywalker ranch.
Star Wars Episode 2-A No Hope...

Episode I was good, so it`s not the first trilogy but it suffers from harsh comparisons. Kill Jar Jar and Anakin and it would have been better I must admit but you can`t fault the pod race and lightsabre battles.
At least until Episode II...

Why don`t they bring out a Special Public`s Cut of Episode 1 consisting of the end light saber battle and the pod race. With a digitally enhaced Anakin replaced by an animated Darth Vader photo?

Anyway, I think Lucas will release the lot as a 6-disc boxset because he won`t find another way to flog Episodes 1-3 (unless Speilberg does Episode 3?)
