Red lights are there to be ignored,evidently...

Something really starting to get daft up here is drivers `ignoring` red lights, and it`s really getting on my wick.
Two regular scenarios for you.
I stay in a housing estate with some lights onto a 50mph road.
The lights have always been unpopular with the main road users since they were installed, presumably because they find it inconvenient to have to stop...aaaaw. >:(
So,most mornings I watch as several cars completely ignore the amber, then the red.
The other scenario is at the airport, where I work.
There are, again, lights at the main road junction.
Taxi drivers >:( approaching the lights completely ignore the red light and treat it like a normal give way junction !
We don`t have cameras at traffic lights up here, like most English cities do I think.
Christ, I wish we did. >:( >:( >:(

I was approaching a set of temporary traffic lights on saturday and they were on green for me but some silly b*tch came through from the other direction ( the lights were on green when I was around 200 metres away and cars behind her stopped so she was not amber gambling ) while chatting on her mobile , normally I would have pulled up to the lights to block her coming through and give her a load of abuse but I had the mother in law in the car too so I had to be on my best behaviour .

I must admit I`ve driven through temporary roadwork red lights at night,if I`m 100% sure there is nothing coming the other way.
Does that make me a hypocrite ? :/ ;)
Seriously though,I wouldn`t dare gamble with `proper` traffic lights, even at night.

I`m sick to death of Trafic lights. The only road works we see here is if they are putting in more traffic lights or cameras. A road I used to travel along 20 years ago in 5 minutes now takes 20 minutes if your lucky (even at night). I know 2 friends who never use the road anymore & go 3 to 4 miles out of there way to avoid. 95% of lights could be taken down. They won`t because it`s a massive tax earner. Petrol wasting away while (Very often) you wait for NOTHING.

Thankfully Paull the area in which I live is not plagued with lights, but I can see your point.
However, you wouldn`t condone ignoring them just because you don`t like them would you.
That`s what motorists up here are doing.
They`re seeing them as an inconvenience to be ignored at their leisure, knowing full well there is little chance of anything happening.
Even if I could be bothered to report them, which I can`t,it would be my word against theirs.
Sometimes I wish I had an old banger that I wasn`t scared to crash... ;)

What scares me is the thought that my perfectly driving-law abiding wife could, one day,be the victim of one of these tossers.

By the way...another thing....
You`re approaching a roundabout along two lanes.
The roundabout merges into one lane if you go straight ahead.
People that think they have right of way in the RH lane as they go ahead...
That drives me daft...People in the LEFT lane have right of way you twat !
How dare you cut me up !

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........... >:(

Do you really believe that traffic lights are only there to earn tax money for the government??

Got a similar set up in Chester, coming out of the city onto the River Dee bridge. I always go round in the left lane and have lost count of the number of times I`ve "played the gentleman" and given way to the driver on the right panicking trying to get in.

Sorry got carried away, lights & lights on roundabouts get on my wick however it is wrong & foolish to jump them

As for Man U on Saturday. Well done Portsmouth. Harry`s done a good job with them. More fool West Ham.

You want to sit at traffic lights that are goverened by a tram approaching. You`re lucky if a Ferrari could get through the green sequence.
