Star Wars - How to become a Jedi Knight ! (Not related to DVD but hey, some fun ;-)

As some of you may know there is a census coming around on August the 7th [UK Only].

For those who don`t know, a census is where the government collates general information about its residents (number of people living in your house, religion, etc)

If there are enough people, who put down a religion that isn`t mentioned on the census form it becomes a fully recognised and legal religion. It usually takes about 10,000 people to nominate the same religion.

It is for this reason that it has been suggested that anyone who does not have a dominant religion to put "Jedi" as their religion.

Send this on to all your friends and tell them to put down "Jedi" on their census form. And remember ......If you are a member of the Jedi religion then you are by default a `Jedi Knight`.

So if this has been your dream since you were 10 years old, Do it because you love Star Wars, If not, then just do it to annoy people.

May the Force be with you!

Does that mean that if enough people wrote "DVD" then that too would become a recognised religion :0)

Hahaha - what a load of nonsense. Do you expect to see "Satanist" on the census form, or "Druid", or "Pagan". Each of these must have had at least 10,000 adherents at the last census. Anyway, our blasphemy laws apply only to Christianity, so what will official recognition give you anyway? Only the Star Wars muppets could fall for this one.

A campaign by Star Wars fans to have Jedi registered as an official religion in the UK is doomed to fail.

E-mails have been sent all round the country saying it would be recognised if at least 10,000 people put it down in the forthcoming British census.

But the Home Office says that will not happen, regardless of how many people claim they follow Jedi, the religion in the Star Wars films.

People in New Zealand were also told last month they needed 8,000 signatures in their census to make Jedi an official religion there.

That also turned out to be a hoax.

A Home Office spokesman told BBC Online anyone wishing to claim their religion was Jedi would be counted as `other`.

All those in that category will be counted as one group.

"If ten, 10,000 or 50,000 people put Jedi in the `other` section of the census, it`s not going to be reflected in the output," said the spokesman.

"In the last census, where we asked for a religion, lots of people who obviously don`t have a religion put their football team.

"But it doesn`t matter whether you put Jedi, Manchester United, Chelsea, or whatever. It`s completely erroneous, it`s going to have no impact whatsoever."

I thought I missed April fool`s day...

Given the fact that most people won`t be able to scrawl an X ledgibly nevermind fill the form in correctly I don`t think all you wannabe Skywalkers are going to have their dreams come true through this.

Mind you, Christianity made it through, don`t see why other joke religions can`t make it.

I have my forms - but I`m stuck on the sodding name section - sadly there isn`t even enough room for my name. If I ever reach the religion section I`ll put JEDI on it.

I was talking to my Welsh colleague in the pub last nite, and he was saying that the Welsh don`t recognise the letter `X`, using `cs` instead - eg Wrexham becomes Wrecsham.

After pondering on this viewpoint I turned to him and said:

"so how the hell do you guys vote ?"

He looked at me stunned, and then realised that "3m Welshmen have just been disenfranchised by that statement"

Completely irrelevant (apart from someone mentioned an `X` above) but thought I`d share a Clayts Pearl of Wisdom with you all !!!

;-)
