Page 1 of Can anyone recommend a good optician?

I need new spec frames and I`m tired of the samey samey stuff at SpecSavers. I`ve not tried Vision Express or Boots and just wondered what`s the general concensus of these or other places. Are there any good deals anywhere at the moment?

Join Costco if there is one near you - eye tests for a tenner and cheap glasses and contacts - I found huge savings there.

Yeah, my old man got some sven glasses from costco and he was well chuffed with the service and price.

I go to boots, personally, but like most things it depends where you go. Our local boots hasnt got the got a great selection by any means, but the big boots in reading had a great selection. All of the big boots healthcare centers carry just about the best stock around. I dont know if the offers on any more, but last month they were doing half price frames and eye tests.

Last month i got a set of FCUK frames, scratch resistant lenses and an eye test for 140 quid. Which, while stil being an utter skank, is still about 50 odd quid cheaper than i have ever got any goggles before.

I use Optique 2000 - I don`t know how national they are, if at all.

What`s wrong with Specsavers? Haven`t you seen their adverts? You`re guarenteed to be cool if you wear their specs 8)

hee, hee. :D I went to Dolland and Aitchison today and thought of the king of cool, Burt Reynolds, then I told the rather gorgeous girl there that I can`t buy stuff from a shop that uses Uncle Burt and George Hamilton in its adverts.

I`ll check out my local big Boots and see what it has, there`s no Costco near me unfortunately....
