Bloody hell - incident this afternoon!

RWB (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 10th April 2004, 18:28

We were driving over to my dad`s, and on the way to a town called Blandford there was this red car in front. It started swerving, and it wasn`t trying to overtake anyone.

It looked like the driver was majorly p***ed, as he then hit the kerb a couple of times and swung onto the other side of the road...narrowly missing three cars. We were s***ting ourselves `cos it was so close to hitting someone, totally out of control. We followed it, and by this stage it was doing about 70mph, in a 40mph zone.

It kept swerving, and then actually stayed on the wrong side of the road - with a car coming! It swerved just in time, before we lost it at a roundabout. At this stage, I got my mobile and called 999 to tell them, with a description of the car and where we were. They called back 2 mins. later asking for more details, then said they`d call back later if anything happened. We were looking around various roads, but couldn`t see anything.

5 mins. later the mobile rings - I answer, the lady asks for my address and phone no., which I give to her. She then says there has been an "incident" and they need to send "an officer to get a statement as you witnessed the car". I then asked what had happened, she says "the driver ran over a pedestrian". :o It turns out it happened in the Blandford town centre.

In my opinion, the driver should get at least 6 months inside, 2 years ban, fine and compensation for the poor victim...and what a way for the poor victim to start Easter! :(

Its a shame you never reported the driver as soon as you saw him/her all over the road. Might have saved the poor pedestrian .

Excuse my poor writing above, but within a few seconds of realising that the car was dangerous and driving on the wrong side of the road I did get on the phone, trust me. There was nothing extra I could have done to have prevented the incident, so don`t try and make me feel guilty!

To repeat - the way I wrote it with the 999 call does not accurately reflect the rapidness of me making the call. :)

i didnt put my reply to make you feel guilty or to ridicule you , I was merely addeing my views.
The way you wrote your first post just seemed like you were following the car for a while before phoning that all.

Did you find out any more details, maybe the driver had a heart attack at the wheel...it does happen?

No, he`s pure evil. Let`s string him up now, without any of that liberal `fair trial` nonsense. ;)
