Car Breakdown/Recovery

hunsbury0 (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 16th October 2003, 18:07

I will soon need to renew our Car Breakdown cover ( we are with RAC at present).
We have 2 cars. We need joint cover, Home start, Recovery.
Any ideas who to try apart from RAC & AA ?
Thanx in advance

green flag, or direct line... but i would go with AA, they cover the person not the car, so if you are in someone elses car and it breaks down, or you change your car you don`t have to mess about with changing details (I am with the AA, have been for 14 years, and wouldn`t change... even though its 5 years since i needed to call them!)...

I have to agree: if you have access to more than one car, a deal that covers you rather than a specific vehicle has got to be the best to go for, especially as breakdown recovery prices are pretty similar no matter where you go. I was with green flag for a while because of their links with TSB, but changed to the AA when another car came into the family. I think the AA are regarded as highly as they are because they have provided a quality service for so many years.

My entire family all have cover on the person, so we just carry around our RAC cards and it really doesn`t matter what car we happen to be in at the time. I don`t think its that expensive to do it this way either, if its all on the same policy.
