I am 20 years old and Just downloaded a copy of play that funky music by wild cherry (which I will now go a buy a proper copy) and I love this song could anyone suggest any similar 60`s 70`s music.

Just go and buy anything by Sly and the Family Stone.

Alternatively if you like the funky 70`s stuff but with a modern twist then try David Holmes `Come Get It, I Got It` (just picked this up for £6.49 on CD-WOW) and DJ Shadow / Cut Chemist `Brainfreeze` (the latter is so funky it hurts!). These two albums are compilations of lost 60`s/70`s funky soul gems all mixed up in a hip hop stylee.

I find that anything by Jamiroquai is fantastically funky....but not really very retro.

I get my retro kicks from The Doors......

Issac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Sly & the Family Stone, The Isley Brothers, Al Green, The Meters, The O`Jays, Betty Davis, Funkadelic, Parliament (anything to do with George Clinton).
There are loads of good breaks albums on Strut, BBE and SoulJazz records.

A bit more recent but worth a listen if you haven`t already: Freakpower. One of Norman Cooks old bands apparently heavily influenced by Sly and the Family Stone (you may have spotted a Sly and the F S theme emerging here!)
