Same old scapegoat, "it wasn`t his faulty it was the game". The thing that annoys me is his age, for a start he shouldn`t have been playing it as its rated 18, also he`s old enough to know right from wrong so how they can blame the game is beyond me.

Thing is though by trying to get this game banned, sales of it are going to rocket.

In my experience, having met a large number of hard core gamers who play mainly FPS in which killing people with guns and knives (and rocket launchers) is mandatory behaviour in the game, they are pretty much the softest bunch of guys on the planet. :)

So I guess killing people in computer games for 3 hours+ on a daily basis can`t be that bad for your mental health, even if it is a killer of your social life.

In my opinion anyone who can be influenced in this way by a videogame is obviously not mentally stable and should be locked up in a room with padded walls.

true. But the parents can`t believe that their little angels have problems...so they blame something else. Do you see them trying to ban knives and hammers? Or parks?

At the end of the day, The Parents shouild not have let him own the game as he was underage.

The Parents are at fault.

Not Rockstar or the BBFC

Their punishment is to see their monstrous messed up child imprisoned.

Just watching the news now (ITV) who are now attacking other games:

GTA (shock)
State of Emergency
Max Payne

Its obvious that if they were going to attack games in general GTA would be top of the list but Max Payne, ok so its not teletubbies but its hardly that bad. Why is it that games are the first to cop the flack?

Heres a message for the game haters yes adults play games aswell and there content should reflect this if your son/daughter is playing underage its your responsibility to stop them >:(

It`s the age-old knee-jerk reaction where the Tabloids (inc ITV & BBC) want to be seen to defame and decry the evil, evil source of juvenile delinquency, whatever they tell us it is..

Remember the outcry over Child`s Play 3 after the Jamie Bulger incident? There was absolutely no connection whatsoever between the film and the murder, but the tabloids managed to get the film banned, albeit temporarily..

The problem is that main stream media still view video games as childrens entertainment. Nobody complains about violent books for example. Anyone read any James Ellroy ? Good books, often very violent and very graphic, but typical of a lot of contempory American crime fiction. And as far as I am aware books don`t have a big red 18 certificate plastered on the cover.

Strictly speaking Child`s Play 3 wasn`t officially banned. Like A Clockwork Orange it was temporariliy withdrawn by its distributor after all the hysteria in the gutterpress. The big difference between a withdrawal and a ban is that distributors aren`t required to explain their decisions to the public or the state. Indeed, director Stanley Kubrick went to his grave without ever providing an explanation for his ordering Warner Bros. to withdraw all UK prints of A Clockwork Orange.
