Pirates of the Carribean Vs. Star Wars trilogy

I have realised that the POTC is a complete rip off of the SW trilogy. I was chatting to a mate the other week and came with amazing similarities between to the two.

Jack Sparrow = Hans Solo
Will Turner = Luke Skywalker
Elizabeth Swann = Pricess Leia
Jack Devenpot = Lando
Pintel + Ragetti (the two bumbling pirates) = C3PO and R2D2

In the first POTC we see Will who has no family (his father has turned to the dark side) who is in love with Elizabeth (the rich girl who is out of his league). He then meets Jack and goes on an adventure to save her. They even stop off in a dodgy town to pick up a crew before embarking on the journey.

They also have the fastest ship in the land and come across two bumbling pirates who are supposed to be the funny part of the film.

The second film begins with them being reunited and going on another adventure together. At then end of the film Jack is eaten (encarsorated) just as Han is in Empire. I have loads of things which are exactly the same but cant be bothered to write it all down.

It amazes me that someone can get away with such a blatant rip off and can only imagine that the final instalment will be a complete rip off of Return of the Jedi.

Am I the only one who finds this rip off wrong??

Of course there is one huge differance. One has goodish acting and dialogue, the other is starwars.

It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....

Were you watching the same film as me? Good acting and dialogue in Pirates? Where?

If they are ripping off Star Wars then Will`s gonna be mighty p***ed off when he finds out he`s been getting it on with his sister.

And where are the Vader and Kenobi/Gandalf characters (noting that Georgie-boy is not above a bit of off-rippage himself).

Meh.

Sorry but I was being flippant. A film about a wood yard run by the wooden tops would have less wooden acting than Starwars.

Perhaps the prequels, but some of the performances in the originals weren`t half bad.

I wont hear a bad word said about Harrison Ford in the OT. He was/still is my hero. He absolutely makes the OT for me. Frank OZ kicked arse as Yoda and even Mark Hamill matured into the role.

If you want to have a go at something...........

Star Wars itself was a rip-off of Kurosawa`s films (Yojimbo, Seven Samurai and The Hidden Fortress) so you could argue that POTC/HP is a remake of a remake and they don`t have a shred or originality. Anyway, I couldn`t care less about Star Wars, hate POTC and have only enjoyed one Harry Potter film.

Loved the Harry Potter/Star Wars synopsis though! :D

Saw that HP thing just after the first movie came out. Chances are, if you pick the bones out of any 2 movies of a specific genre (adventure, in this case) of course there`s going to be similarities.
