Trailers for Dolby, DTS, THX, etc.

Before quite a few films, they have introductory trailers for the sound system the film uses.

I can`t seem to play these at will - they appear to have dodgy chapter numbers.

Am I missing something?

It`s the same with me.

I think it`s because they are not placed at the start of the film, and have their own place on the disc. If you catch my drift.

If you are crafty though you can use your remote to set it to repeat the chapter you are on when it is playing the trailer, so that it keeps on playing it over and over.

I only do that with the THX noise as it RULES. The DD helicopter trailer is also quite cool though.

Aye.

Hey there,

Try logging on to www.dolby.com and www.dtsonline.com to purchase discs containing all the trailers you mention. Thx trailers are only found on american r1 discs like Toy Story 2 and T2, you can`t buy them seperately, but the dolby disc(and even better the dts one), are both great ways to show off your system.

Go on,you know you want one

I know the`re not the trailers, but if you`re after samples to show off your system, try the "ultimate dvd" series. The platinum version comes with a seperate disc to set up any system with, and it will even help you to calibrate a projector as well. I used the rattle test and saved myself from the wrath of "she who must be obeyed" by stopping all her china dancing in the cupboards.

if your after the trailers try the region 3 2 disc set of Shiri, you get 4 dolby digital trailers and 1 dts and they can be played on there own. great film as well.

Westy - I do want to !!

Had a look on DTSonline - the only sampler I could see is Demo disc 4 which looks a bit crap - samples from -the Eagles - Roy Orbison , Sheryl Crow !! and Saving Private Ryan etc.
Anywhere else you can get these..?

Some of the merchandise was pretty tempting tho.

Fecker,

As i haven`t been on their site for a while-i can only guess that its been deleted, i have a few mates `in the industry` so got hold of the new dts sampler with Gladiator and Chicken Run amongst many others!
The dolby one is still available though and is very good-if a little short.
The new THX trailer at the flicks is utterly shocking, a glass ball floats precariously on screen and then gets hit by (some extremely shockingly loud and bassy) lightning! The resulting peices that are left of the ball then reform into the THX logo(a`la T2), resulting in the sound we all know and love!
My faves are the Dolby `Train` trailer, plus the `Canyon` one-and the dts `Sonic Landscape` one(with the piano). Oh and the THX trailers before Toy Story 1 and 2 region 1 are very inspired!

Can you get the player to play them again after it`s played them once already? (or do you have to pull the plug?)
