I ordered a few DVD`s from Play.com recently & they have all been Canadian. This is really beginning to annoy me. Is every R1 dvd from Play from Canada now? having half French is such a pain in the.....

Also has anyone orderd Family Guy Season 4 from them, is that half French??

You say pyscho like its a bad thing

PLAYUSA discs have always been from Canada, thats why they are cheap.
Not all labels have dual language covers,so try and check whether the disc you order will have French on it.
Some sites make a point of telling buyers they will have genuine US discs with no french, like Movietyme and Enterprises, but most of the time the disc will be a pound or 2 dearer.

The covers they show you when you buy them are all in English, so you cant really tell. I ordered Cry Wolf a while ago, the box on the site was all Enlgish (american) with Unrated on it & when it arrived no such box.
So has anyone got Family Guy (half of) season 4 off them??

When I said to check it was really meant to mean check which label its on as you get used to which labels always have dual language covers like Paramount and New Line, while many others like Warner and Anchor Bay don`t put any French on.
It comes from experience.

nah, still dont see why anyone would be that bothered. What about films with foreign titles?

What if you went on holiday to a non english speaking country and saw a DVD on offer, would you still not buy it because the packaging was in a different language?

A lot of Canadian DVDs are inferior to the US versions because they have to cater for both languages. For example, the Sin City extended DVD didn`t have DTS.

Also, the packaging looks odd because it`s half and half. It`s not like they make reversible sleeves with English on one side and French on the other. Canadian law says that both languages must be visible, so you get one side with prominent English and small French writing, then the reverse on the other side. Fekkin` barmy...
