White Noise

Got back from seeing this a while ago. I have to say that although the acting is not bad, I thought the storyline was very poor.

All in all, not a very good movie and one that does not have my recommendation :(

I had read no reviews so went in with an open mind but thought it was rubbish: badly acted, scripted, directed and not scary! The best horrors scare you because they tap in to something that is real and twist it to scare you such as sharks (Jaws), birds (The Birds), mental illness/possession (The Exorcist), transplants (The Eye) or just serial killers (Psycho/The Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

E.V.P. is not the sort of thing that one is likely to come across in real life and is not likely to keep you thinking about it after you`ve left the cinema so I`ve no idea who thought this movie would work. I thought it was implausible nonsense and a waste of time.

I went with my wife, her friend, and partner. 2 of us thought it was s***e, while the other 2 loved it.

I could not wait for it to end, and in the cold light of day found it to be drivel. Very little to remember, this really shold be a straight to video flick rather than wasting time on a cinema release.

I haven`t read a good review of it anywhere, I`ll probabl still see it but I`ll go in with a very low expectation. I`ll stick to me Asian horror films.

The Exorcist is based on a real case of possession that took place while William Peter Blatty was a student. Exorcisms are carried out in Africa, the Carribean and probably more places that we don`t hear about. One point shown in The Exorcist and in more detail in `The Exorcist: The Version You Haven`t Seen` is that having doctors not believe you can be frightening in itself.

OK yeah supposedly it is real, but to say a film about EVP is unbelievable, and use The Exorcist as an example of a realistic film, well they exist in reality on pretty much the same terms, apparently they do exist, but about 90% if not more will not come across them. I did think White Noise sucked by the way, im not trying to argue its case.

Maybe The Exorcist wasn`t such a good example, I was saying that EVP is not a scary concept as it only effects those who are looking for it and not the average joe. Whilst people watched Jaws and swore never to go in the sea again or never looked at a bird the same way again after Hitchcock`s classic, White Noise will effect no one as it`s subject matter is experienced only by a minority.
