Friends on DVD....question

Andy_R (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 29th October 2003, 22:26

Noticed some stores are selling Friends on DVD with a `Buy one get one free` offer these past few days! Looking at them I notice that the first few series have 8 episodes on each discs but the later ones have only 4!! :/

My fiance wants us to start collecting them but Im just wondering if in time the later series`s will also be available with 8 episodes on each disc?

Does anyone have any ideas?

I doubt it, it seems like a good con by warner to make us by more discs, that happened with will and grace, i bought series one because it had 8 eps per disc, but now the later seasons only have 4, which makes it a pricey option now. I`d wait and buy them when you see them going cheap perhaps that will make them realise they would have sold more keeping to 8 eps per disc rather than ripping up off, esp friends when you consider its a double sided disc with the same eps on the other side with only a few seconds added footage!!!

OK, being a collector of `em, here goes:

Series 1-6 - 8 episodes per disc, 3 discs per series
Series 7-9 - 4 episodes per disc, director`s cut of episodes on Side B (used for 4 episodes series 1-6), 6 discs per series

Series boxsets in this deal work out at £17.99 for series 1-6, and £37.99 for series 7-9.

I`d go for the Region 1 versions if I were you. They work out at around £20 a series from DVD Soon and you get better sound, and a few extras as well.

Go for the Region 1 versions, they are great and have excellent packaging. I have the first 4 season and they look great on my shelf. The packaging is more compact and therefore takes up less space and have extras and arent flippers and dont come in snapper cases and come on good picture discs and have better picture quality and have better sound and have i think 5 eps on each disc or something. :p "Breathes". Thats about it really. I used to buy region 2 too but i sold all them on ebay.
