I have just seen a trailer on Apple Trailers for Alien Special Edition, NO NOT ALIENS - ALIEN! Does this mean that the forthcoming quadrilogy will only have the standard version on it`s release?

No, it will have both the new Director`s Cut of Alien and the original theatrical version. Ridley Scott has recently recut the film removing some scenes and adding some others and this new Director`s Cut is going to be released in the cinemas before the DVD set comes out in December. Personally I am now really looking forward to getting the "Alien Quadrilogy" but I have yet to decide whether to go for R1 or R2. If the R1 does not have the Alien Legacy Documentary, but the R2 does then I will go for R2 even if it costs me more.

Is this the same Alien Legacy documentary that was part of the existing box set, (if so a justification to the Mrs for keeping hold of it.)

Is The Alien Directors cut going to be released individually as I dont really want to buy all the other Alien films again just to get the Alien DC

Personally I am going for the box set because it also features the original theatrical cut of Aliens, plus a new cut of Alien 3. Alien Resurrection is my least favourite but that is also going to feature some extra footage so it will definitely be interesting to see.

From what i can gather via various rumours etc is that alien 3 will have nearly 40 minutes of different footage added and alien 4 will have a new ending with ripley arriving on earth only to find it infested with aliens! in this age of CGI a new ending would be pretty easy to do....any thoughts?

The BBFC have rated the Alien 3:Special Edition and it`s 138 minutes.
