FREE BROADBAND!!! (terms and conditions apply)

chris_* (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 11th April 2006, 18:55

Hello,

Talktalk are now doing free broadband if you:

-Pay a 30 quid connection charge
-Take their line rental of 11 quid a month
-Take Talk 3 international at 10 quid a month
-Sign up for 18 month contract

This will save me a fortune, as talk 3 is free landline calls, and certain free international call. I`m currently paying 36 quid a month with BT + calls.

Let me know if you see any other catches, as I have just signed up for it, and have the normal 7 day cooling off period to change my mind. BT offered me 5 quid a month off, if I sign up for another 10 months.

End of transmission

Cheers

Chris

PS for those of you currently limited to 1 Meg with BT like I was, have another look at their website because mine has changed to 3 Megs, but as always BT haven't bothered to tell me or automatically speed up my connection despite paying 25 quid just for BB!

Fine and dandy.

How on earth it`s getting so much publicity for being free though is absolutely beyond me. It`s £21 a month plus a £30 connection charge as far as I can see. If that`s still a good deal then absolutely, sign up for it. It`s not free though by any stretch of the imagination. :)

This is just the start as other providers have to follow.

Looks a good deal for the price especially as it`s reportedly for 8 megabit speed. There`s a £75 disconnection charge if cancelled before 18 months.

I will wait until they get a good reputation before changing my bb access.

They might be as bad as bulldog.

Although Talk Talk claims to be unlimited I spoke to staff there and they said that a fair use policy applies. I think 50gb per month was the max!

Its cheap, but having been a Talktalk Broadband customer for the past year, let me please warn you they are a bunch of monkeys! I cant wait to get out and stay well away..

They block ALL P2P or filesharing software, so if you use Shareaza/Limewire forget it
They may lie and tell you they dont restrict downloads, but its cleverly worded in their T&Cs
Check www.adslguide.org and look at what ppl have been saying about them.
Tech support line costs 50p per min

Do not join Talktalk - you`ll regret it.....

Hello again,

Thanks for your opinions on this. I`ve chosen to stick with it, and I`ll let you know how it goes. Talktalk has been very good for me for my landline so far, and I like the fact that I earn Nectar points. As for fair usagepolicy, I`m pretty certain the limit is 40 gb, which might as well be unlimited for me as I won`t get near that.

Cheers

It`s only worth it if you don`t download A LOT. They said they don`t care what you do between midnight-6AM, oh wow, that you very much. :/
If only I got Blueyonder, I think BT is the best for me.

I signed up for an "offer" to stay with pipex @ £17.99 per month for 30gb allowance then i have seperate line rental!
