Silver Scren are closing down very soon so watch out for bargains at your local (if there is ever such a thing as a bargain at Silver Screen) they were about to be bought out and it fell through so they are closing all of the stores down.
don`t know when theough as yet.

Vulture that I am I went in about a week ago when I heard that they were in administration. Absolutely nothing I wanted to buy, even at the `reduced` prices. Not a great business model really, setting up a company in an already overcrowded market then selling at a higher price than all of your competitors... It`s a pity, as they had a good selection of world cinema and harder to find titles in the larger stores, but I`m not paying full retail for anything when I can get it a tenner cheaper elsewhere. Christ, most stuff is cheaper in HMV of all places!

Thanks for the heads-up, I`ll be sure to check my local store every so often over the next while :-)

Yow, didn`t know that. I`m going to an old town I used to live in tomorrow, where a friend works as a security guard in one of their shops. I`ll have to see if they`re still around and whether he`s out of a job yet!!

I only ever bought one thing from Silverscreen, and that was only because it was about the same as online and I needed it in a hurry. At the counter, the guy asked if I wanted to buy any of the special offer DVDs they had piled up (reduced if you bought anything else that day). When I said no, I thought the was going to burst into tears! I really did!

The "Store Closing" signs are up in the Bristol branch but the prices have yet to go down.

Likewise in Wimbledon. `Store Closing` sign but the usual prices.

Worth keeping an eye for some last minute bargains though.
